I downloaded the zelda zip file. its unpacked, but i can't get it to do anything else.can anyone help me out

Run the yellow icon to set up options.

When you're done setting up options, hit the "Launch ZC" button to run the game player. Hit the "Launch ZQ" button to run the editor.

You can only edit quests (.qst files) that you have the password to, if they are passworded. Or quests that don't have a password on them.

You can play ANY quest with the player (Zelda Classic, green icon) as long as the quest was created in that version of ZQuest or earlier.


I think that covers it. If you run into any issues then I can't help you because it's not that hard to run a program, honestly.

Moved to ZC Quest Editor Help as this is about running Zelda Classic.


Our program does not install any system files, so it runs exclusively from the executable. With the most recent editions, the best way (and sometimes the only way) to run the program is with ZLaunch-W.exe, the yellow icon with the boss key on it (Majora described this process in more rigorous detail). I recommend making a shortcut to that executable from your Zelda Classic folder into your start menu or onto your desktop.


Also, which operating system are you using? The 'stable' version 2.5.0 has issues with Windows 8, which means you'll need to try a release candidate like RC3.
