I picked up a Genesis for $10 the other day. I was pretty stoked. I grabbed a few games for it: Sonic 1 and 2, Ecco the Dolphin, and Sub Terraria.

I beat Sonic 1 for the first time ever. I honestly had only played a few levels of the game before. It was a lot harder than I expected it to be, but once I got the levels down, it wasn't too tough. I liked it, though it doesn't even compare to games like Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World, the games main competitors from that era. I'm going to play through Sonic 2 tonight.

I'm actually impressed with the graphics and music of the Genesis so far. I was under the impression that it was far inferior to the SNES, but it doesn't really seem like it so far.

I've always liked how Sega has actually used the Sega Genesis to its fullest, and as such, the hardware was made out to be about as strong.

It's not the hardware, it's how it's used. :3

But yeah, Sonic the Hedgehog. The spectrum goes like this for me, when it comes to the first 3 games in the series. Sonic 1 was a fairly solid game, and it was sort of like Super Mario Bros. in that aspect. Sonic 2 basically expanded upon every feature of the first game, and it's the same for the 3rd game. Although, common knowledge, but Sonic 3 is actually 2 games, Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles, due to time constraints. Just throwing that out there unless you didn't know already.

Either way, I feel the first 3 games in the series only got better as the games went on.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is still my favorite game in the series. I actually didn't like 3 that much, but Sonic & Knuckles is also really solid.
