I rarely miss people, because it's hard to miss a person if they're gone to not remind you that they're gone, (WTF even is that?!) but Glenn/gleen definitely had that "presence" that made you aware that he was lurking around every corner for your benefit.

I knew him at first as some representative entity of the board, then as a threat, and finally I was coming to understand him as an actual human being (instead of some symbol of the Internet). And then he was gone.

Life is filled with these sorts of situations: the positive impression, the negative impression, and beneath all that the real identity. I wonder if we could have become friends. He did seem excited when I started raving about Java.


Still, missing someone isn't a bad thing. It shows that they made an impression. It shows you noticed when they left.
