So after dicking around with texture packs on Ocarina of Time, I've realized something odd again. Something I never got any clarification on.

What is with the Hero of Time's (Ocarina of Time) incarnation of the Master Sword's scabbard? Why is it bandaged in basically all of the official artwork for it? Even in Smash Melee, where it is noted to be the Hero of Time, the scabbard is noticeably bandaged about 3/4th of the way down. It is not connecting it to his belt, nor is it present in ANY other game. Any theories? (especially why it's only for Hero of Time; Link?)

That's a really good question... I noticed that back in the day as well, but never really thought about it.

This is gonna bug me now.

To mess with people. I don't know really. But it is kinda odd.

I remember when I first saw the Ocarina of Time official artwork of Link, I noticed the bandaged up scabbard. Considering this was the first time the "contemporary" Master Sword scabbard had been shown, I found it peculiar that it was already in a state of repair. Yet if we look at Twilight Princess and Wind Waker - the scabbard is fine (even though those take place chronologically AFTER Ocarina of Time) - which hints at the bandage being merely a motif.

I'm so curious as to whether or not there is a tiny story woven into Ocarina of Time specifically that gives prominence to that bandage. It seems insignificant and yet it was purposely placed in the Hero of Time's design - so there must be some credence.
