It seems we were hacked once again. Unlike last time instead of just breaking the forums it seems our hackers had a political goal in mind. A lot of images, videos, and texts(many in a language I don't read) were displayed on our board and, especially with current event, much of it or all may have been offensive. We just want to assure you this was done without our consent. A known exploit with vB was taken advantage of to hack our boards and unfortunately it will take some more work over the next couple days to ensure we are completely protected. Hopefully without this happening again.

On behalf of AGN I would like to apologize for this incident and especially to anyone offended by what was displayed. I hope you do not hold it against us.

I am a little offended that I missed it. Was this somehow related to a smattering of threads in GD with no actual post content exhibited? Those posts were eventually removed. This is merely foo because I am developing an aversion to four-sentence posts.

This was all fixed up thanks to ctrl-alt-delete and his wife before I had a chance to get involved, but reportedly the hacker(s) wedged a series of pro-Syrian Army propaganda into the top section of the forums.

I don't have confirmation on who was responsible, but comparing the similarity of this attack to others that have hit other websites in recent days, I would say the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_Electronic_Army is a good bet.

They were calling themselves the "Syrian Lions Hackers" or something akin to that, I can't remember exactly. The message - through broken English and random pictures - seemed to be along the lines of: Syrian People are great, Assad, CIA, something something, don't bomb us.

Heh, I bet it was because of the Syria thread in GD. Syrian Lions are considered related to SEA but it still remains to be seen if they are an arm of an actual "boots-on-the-ground" opposition group or merely opportunistic internet 'hackers' using a serious schtick.

I am party to the belief that this was a drive-by, but truth be told is the fact that we have the thread in GD talking about Syria. It's possible they went through search engines with certain keywords and targeted websites from the listing, In all seriousness, this is child's play. Hell, I could likely inject the same nonsense into AGN's SQL and copy the same attack within the week. They have accomplished nothing by doing this.

I just thought of the best drive-in movie theater title for some reason. "Drive-By at the Drive-In."

Minor setback this morning but got it resolved. If you notice anything different or broken, let me know.

But... that makes it four sentences!

Hope you have a good throwing arm. They may be in Syria.
