So I want to load Shattered Earth up with a whole slew of fun items to collect. Besides the obvious Zelda equipment that I've been spriting whenever I get the chance, what other items would you guys like to see? It can be from anything - an anime series, a book series, another video game series - doesn't matter.

I basically only have items from Final Fantasy, Zelda, Harvest Moon, and Devil May Cry series. I know there are a lot more, but I can't speak for everyone in what is popular - only things I would want to see.

Also, if you have spriting experience and would like to make your own items for the game, by all means post them here. If they match the current style of items well enough I'll add them. :)

Though I could probably name quite a few items that I'd like to see, I would have to suggest the Einlanzer from Chrono Cross (http://chrono.wikia.com/wiki/Einlanzer). Bonus points if SE still has the Masamune.

For collection purposes perhaps various trinkets from the various Square games? The pendant from Chrono Trigger, a "deck" of cards from the card games in FF8/9, a Blitzball, etc. The item descriptions (depending on length available) could even include some trivia about the item.

Glenn added a proto Einlanzer - I'll give it a graphic proper. Of course the Masamune is still present. So are some other favorites, such as the Buster Sword, Master Sword, Alastor (from Devil May Cry), Save the Queen, Blood Sword (that actually absorbs a % of HP). I'll probably end up adding the algorithm for Ultima Weapon in tonight, where the damage is based on the wielder's HP.

I like the idea of the collectables. Will definitely add the pendant, Triple Triad/Tetra Master cards, blitzballs, 1/32 SOLDIERs, etc. I just need ideas, so keep shouting them out. :)

Off the top of my head. None of these take system/scripting limitations into account (I do not know said limitations) nor do I expect them to ever be implemented:

Zangetsu (http://www.globalgear.com.au/Wholesale%20list/Anime%20Weapons/SW0461%20Ichigo%20Kurosaki%27s%20Zangetsu%20Bleach %20Sword%20large.jpg)/Tensa Zangetsu (http://www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/bankai_sword_sm3_540.jpg)
Cardboard box from Metal Gear1
VF Blade from Metal Gear Solid 2
Templar shield (Google yields quite a few different designs for this one)
Stone of Jordan (from Diablo II or III, does not matter)
Alucard's Sword/Spear
Burst Armor from the original SE provided it is not already implemented
Skeleton "doll" to represent the most grinded mob from the original SE
4 star Dragon Ball
Vital Star from DMC. Could act as a potion.
Class "relic" from Borderlands series

1. Could be a helm that changes the wearer's sprite to that of a cardboard box.

Anyway, those are just a "few" ideas. I am sure I will have more later.

An addition: The Fork of Truth (http://www.lfgcomic.com/page/15/)

I actually have it on a list to add the High Frequency Blade from MGS.

Is the term Zangetsu an umbrella term used for different swords, or is it strictly that one sword? My Bleach trivia is scarce. :\

Burst Armor and Energy Armor. :)

I don't think I mentioned that we do have various foodstuffs in right now that act as low level potions. A lot of fruits and stuff.

Debating on making a public list of the game's inventory. Might help, although spoilers.

I think the term you are thinking of is Zanpakuto, which I believe means "soul cutter" or something. Ichigos is called Zangetsu or at least the weird man that lives in it is...

As a light list of some "unique" weapons that are already in the game: (there are quite a few more than I didn't feel were unique enough)

Kokiri Sword
Shadowblade
Wyrmkiller - deals double damage to dragon types
Mythril everything (Sword, Dagger, Spear, etc) - everything mythril must be synthesized to acquire
Elemental everything (Flametongue, Coralsword, Icebrand, etc) - with proper elemental weakness attributes
Save the Queen
Crystal Sword
Onion Blade
Mythgraven Blade
Brave Blade
Atma Weapon
Ultima Weapon -these three have unique algorithms based on the user's HP
Omega Weapon
Sun Sword
Gaia Blade - Golden Sun variation
Kikuichimonji
Murasame
Masamune -we all know about this guy
Mage Masher - deals double damage to Mages/Magic specific enemies
Gungnir
Blood Sword - drains HP from target and heals user by a %
Excalibur
Ragnarok
Master Sword
Alastor
Einhanzer
Gunblades - (Revolver, Blazefire Saber, Lionheart, etc)
Buster Sword
The Brotherhood
Tournesol

That's a chunk of 'em. Not sure if I want to add Keyblades, because I'm not too fond of them, but we'll see how much everyone wants them.
The cardboard box can easily be added, including placing the player inside of a box. I like that.
Don't limit suggestions to what you think the game can handle. If it's not absurd, I can probably add it.

Swords/melee weapons

Hrunting
Caladbolg
Excalipoor
Dragon Sword (Ninja Gaiden)
Tyrfing; could possibly deal extra damage to players
Claiomh Solais (does not have to be the one from the Aria/Dawn of Sorrow games)
Terminus Est (from SotN). Could cause poison (or deal poison "elemental" damage)
Lance/Spear of Longinus (Holy Lance in many Final Fantasy games).
Vampire Killer. Could be any incarnation of the whip, from the simple leather version, to one wreathed in flame, to the full length morning star from IV, etc.

I think I'm done with weapons for now. I'll edit/reply if I think of any other items. I seem to be having trouble thinking of armor and other items. :p

Oh man, I DEFINITELY need to add Excalipoor.

As of right now (and this could be prone to change) there are only four equipment slots. Weapon, Head, Body, and Relic. Not sure if I want to add a Shield slot for shields and gauntlet types, or leave them under Relic. But those are the current equipable locations.

Obviously Zelda related equipment are things such as Goron Bracelet, Zora Armor, Hyrule Shield, Majora's Mask, Iron Boots.
I dig the Castlevania equipment, so those will definitely be added. Also slowly listing out specifics from the .hack series (Twilight Bracelet, The Empty Skies, etc). Might have to make scythes a weapon type then.

If I had a chance to see the original SE, I might be able to give better advice. Are all these weapons going to be melee weapons like in ZC, or will the battles be more like the sideview ones from FF4 & FF6?

I'm good at spriting, but I still need to know more about SE and how it works, even if just testing an older copy or something. I don't know how similar palette usage is in SE compared to ZC.

BTW, have you considered Chrono's "Rainbow" sword from Chrono Trigger, or one of those huge swords that Cloud has from FF7?

The battles take place in real time. Assuming the core engine for SE is based on Playerworlds/Ore/Mirage/etc, there are no side-view battles. You simply face the mob (or NPC if you prefer) and mash the attack key until the thing dies. The weapons I listed would be melee though

There is not much to really know about SE's workings. Sprites are easy enough once you learn what formats are accepted, the dimensions (16x16, 32x32, etc), and how to set up the image itself (varies between items, weapons, and characters). There are also no palettes in SE. Whatever sprite you create is what everyone would see in the game world. A similar example can be seen in many RPG Maker XP/VX/Ace character sheets. (example (http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff267/lunarea_album/Resources/RMVX-Ace/Sprites/Fairy-Queen_C.png), copyrights apply, etc). No colors to rip, just design to your heart's content within the previously discussed limitations and restrictions.

Looking at the graphics from the previous version of the game, the character sheets are 128x128 (16 32x32 "sprites" for each direction and movement animation frame) bitmap files. The transparent color (which is not rendered by the game engine) is a bright ass pink. If you want further examples, you might be able to still find the old version's download. It even comes with a template file to get you started.

Edit: Alpha version download is here (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/64440954/Shattered%20Earth.rar).
