bigjoe got my vote. I find it intriguing that the one tree has started to leaf before the rest. It makes me wonder what it's hiding.



I refuse to make any comments about my own shot, other than that it should be drug out into the street and shot.

Shane: Marvelous. You use the detailing tiles well. Everything flows smoothly together. 10/10. Voted.

CJC: Is that a skull...? And come on. If he blackmailed you, you could at least put some effort into it. 3/10.

SUCCESSOR: This is second place for me. I find it really creative, and the screen itself is nice too. 8/10.

BigJoe: I love the shape of the screen. But the lack of details (Flowers, smaller rocks, etc.) and the wrong grass usage ruins it. 7/10.

Alrighty then, I'll go through the lot.

Goriya
This shot makes good use of the gameboy-style graphics, which are close to my heart. It's got a nice danger-choke at the top of the latter, but the screen could use a few more enemies (maybe two more, flagged to spawn up on the mountain).

Classic tileset shots need to be extra special in order to compete with the more visually appeasing modernized graphic packs, and this shot just doesn't make par. The cave in the middle of the screen is not using the proper tree sidings, and the skull (while a classic touch for a classic screen) is not sufficiently blatant to make up for it.

I like the dramatic lighting. This is a strong image and the caption really puts it into play, but I feel the lantern sconces are unnecessary. Also, aLttP Link does not fit the artstyle of the gameboy NPCs, though that's more of a personal preference from my perspective.

Outside the 'accent' tree, this shot is a winner because the angle of the objects used as compared to the camera is consistent, the palettes complement each other well and each region of the screen has at least one burst of color to break up the green.

The lanterns are there to show that the room was purposely made dark for the event.

I really like the character (feel) and lighting of SUCCESSOR's, felt the most creative to me. Voted.

Shane's would've been next. Goriya's is a very nice overworld shot, though nothing special. I like bigjoe's too, only problem I have with it is the top-right corner, the lack of contrast between the dirt patch with the mountain and nothing else up there kinda throws me off.

And then there's CJC's. I applaud you for your creative attempt for making a skull, but outside of that, it is a bit too bland.
