I did a speedrun of Zelda 1, collecting everything except a potion and the magic book. Took me a little less than an hour. This is the real Zelda, not ZC. I didn't use any tricks, codes or glitches. It's all good old-fashioned skill. :)
What's everybody's best time?

Mine was 38 minutes. Keep practicing. ;) Jerome also did it in 32 minutes I believe. ...I did a run that doesn't rely on lucky bomb drops in the beginning. However, starting instead with LV3 first is the much faster run.

I never really timed myself. I'm pretty sure though that my playstyle would not be suitable for a speedrun for this game. I probably could beat it in about an few hours at best.

Not *all* but it should only take an extra minute to get the rest. ;)

I checked out the first part of your vid - you made a lot of mistakes right from the first screen I think. Red octorocks should never be killed unless they are directly in your path (same with moblins, leevers, etc.). Never get hit while attempting to farm blue rupee drops, it takes twice as long (ideally what you want to do is kill, or hit, 2 [or more] enemies per sword attack. This requires the sword beam with the wooden sword.) ..plus some general point a to point b adherence and I think you could drop 10 minutes off your time just from those things.

It's been a while but you can look through my thoughts on a 1st quest speed run here: http://armageddongames.net/showthread.php?84124-1st-Quest-*Speed-run*
With the initial lv-2 path (the easier of the two), even getting the potions and all items should be about 40 minutes. Check it out.

I pretty much just did it for kicks. There weren't guides or speedrun tricks involved, really, I just sort of made up the route as I went along. I might see if I can do better sometime, though.

My time is a little under 80 minutes, that was without dying or save resetting to save time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlZaoKduNSc But your run is faster, and you got more stuff. Good job!
