I just had my mind blown by an image posted on 4chan's new /vr/ board for Retro Games.

It is with sadness I report that, for me, for the last 20 years, it was the image on the right.

On a somewhat related note... just like convenience stores and gambling, having your fortune told is just a front for what REALLY goes on inside this creepy building:

Goatse, anyone? (Link's eyes just scream "Can't unsee!")

I had to go back an look at the screenshots of Agahnim but I was looking at it right. Easy mistake though. I am pretty sure when I first play on the SNES I saw the version on the right.

LMAO @ the Fortune Teller sign.

I used to think it was the one on the right too, but at some point I realized the white spots were eyes. I am not sure what made me realize it. It was probably when I took a closer look to how he was depicted in the comic series that ran in NP. Compare the image and you can see some resemblance.

I think the problem is that Agahnim's head is positioned too low, and the turban+circlet hat combo is too large.

I always pictured the one on the left, but I've had this problem with other games. For example, in FF4 I always thought the Goblin's sword was actually its nose. Probably should have taken a closer look at those pixels!

The image on the right distrubs me, yet also makes me laugh.

Holy shit. Wow, till seeing this, I totally thought it was the one on the right (sans the long hair, I thought it was a hood). I've seen Agahnim's artwork, and knew he was supposed to have have a burka looking thing, and I never could figure out, why one, he was green, and two what was going on with what I thought for years was his face/ head.

This makes a little more sense of it. (http://www.conceptart.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=379314&stc=1&d=1212052517) By looking at him (and later, Ganondorf) one has to wonder why the Hylian kings trust such sketchy looking motherfuckrs.

I never saw it that way, but looking at it now... Kind of looks like Porky/Pokey, doesn't he?

Wow, I can certainly see how the error could easily have been made, and it gives me a whole new look at how Aghanim may have been perceived by many. Neat discovery.

I did the same... lol. Except I thought the green on top looked like goggles.

I'm glad I never perceived the one on the right because I don't like it.

I always thought it was a weird arab Captain Falcon, and his mouth was always open. I *never* saw the image on the right though, and I still have trouble imagining that.

I think the main problem is that with the sprite it is hard to see the perspective they were going for. Neither one of the interpretations of the sprite get it right. It is an overhead view and he is not a short pudgey wizard. He is a tall, large wizard with a very big cloak. Notice both drawing show his feet but the sprite does not?

Yeah... I totally thought it was like the right one too, with the little pinkish square as the mouth, lol.

I always assumed he was crouching a bit, with his arms raised to shoulder length...like a wizard...

Turns out I was right!

Then again, I always thought Agahnim had a slight resemblance to Zoda from Star Tropics.

I don't know why, but the one on the right freaks me out! Also I guess i had a bit of an imagination as a kid, i always imagined he looked like a shorter, fatter shredder.

I didn't even know people thought that about it (The right image). I always treated it like the middle image. Perhaps the games manual has a proper image of him.

Wow...I never notice two different side from that sprite. If he is middle one, then I will laugh my ass off for way too short guy.
