Thought I'd pass this along. Exciting time indeed. I'd imagine most people would rank this as the top experience of their life.

Even though I am pretty sure there's no shitting chance in the nine rings of hell I'd get picked (for whatever reason), I'm going to invoke a popular psychological maneuver: faith. I'm going to waste my time getting fit and all that, then find out who do I have to petition the shit out of to be at least considered.

Wow... I cant't believe this. I thought we would be waiting decades for this, but it's only ten years away if everything goes according to plan! It seems appropriate to share this song:

Are you okay with the fact that you would probably be there for the rest of your life, and that all it takes is for one colonist to fuck things up for you all to suffocate in the cold, low pressure atmosphere? Call it New Roanoke.

No one can rate threads anymore since I ruined it for everyone else. :-(

Also; get your ass to mars.

I'm also okay with the fact that the rocket could very well explode on the way up. or getting jettisoned from the ship millions of miles between here and mars. Dude. Mars. MARS. Yeah any two-bit schmuck can say "I've been to _____" and that place will be on earth. But here I am, a hairless ape with an overclocked monkey brain leaving the blue marble and flying to the red one. History getting made.

The organization will fund most of its ambitious activities by staging a global reality-TV event that follows the colonization effort from astronaut selection through the settlers' first years on Mars.

"Who Wants to Go to Mars?" only on FOX.

Joking aside, it good to see Mankind taking the first steps to getting off this planet. Though you'd think they'd try the moon first, it's a little closer to home.

Tell us when you get there, Majora...Oh wait! There's no internet on Mars...

Edit: I select edit post and the body of the actual post is different from what edit post says. Did I hit some sort of lengthy wordfilter or something?
