Minecraft

My newest addiction is Minecraft. My coworkers and I are playing on a Tekkit server, meaning we can load custom mods and such. It's been pretty fun so far. I've only been playing about a week. I built a small castle and a very tall tower. The tower has a tier with a tree and a garden growing in it. At the top of the tower, I've been creating a land mass with a village on top. I'll post pictures soon.

Who else plays Minecraft and has anyone made anything wild?

Playing the 360 version and I'm currently making a copy of the floating island that THE Bar from Bar-Buddies takes place on. I've been working on it on and off far about a month and I'm still not finished.

I started playing a couple of months ago. Haven't made anything too crazy yet. I'm planing on using it to make a model of the city I created for Pathfinder so my players can get a visual on what I've tried to describe for them. So far I've only done the main castle and one guild house.

My brother has been playing for quite some time now. He does not play online or anything but he has created some pretty crazy things.

I've dabbled in Minecraft for a bit - but I gotta say I enjoy Terraria a lot more. I think it's because Terraria feels a lot more like a mixture of SNES Final Fantasies and Graal Online.

I agree with you there completely. Don't ask how many hours I have spent playing that game. I still haven't gotten sick of it. Perhaps the best $10 I have spent.

Who else plays Minecraft and has anyone made anything wild?

I play it from time to time. The only thing "wild" I ever made was a castle that took a fairly large portion of the landscape. The courtyard was massive enough to actually not fully render and the tallest tower of the castle stopped at the height cap at the time. The castle even had a multilevel dungeon with various redstone traps (pitfalls into darkness, walls that opened up to allow lava to flood the room, floors/ceilings that smashed you, etc). I'd post screenshots but 1) the castle is horribly ugly as I was mostly testing WorldEdit and 2) the world was corrupted by god knows what and I have no backups of it.

I enjoyed Terraria a bit more than Minecraft when I first got into it (Terraria) for that same reason. Sadly the novelty wore off and I got bored with being limited to only 2 dimensions to craft in.

I run a private Minecraft server for about a dozen or so of my IRL friends.

I'm not the most creative person when it comes to building structures, but I like to pop on and see what my friends are making, and I do find time to build my own forts and castles every now and then.
Like any sandbox game, Minecraft is what you make of it. It's definitely a lot more fun to play with friends, and as far as sandbox games go, it's probably one of the best.
