Will do, I hope this SotW thing gets taken more seriously by the AGN community. Because it's these things that could strengthen it's core, but if left neglected, only continues a downward spiral. It's why my quest is exclusive here. But I'd really like to see more enthusiasm in this revival I am committing to. Lol

I'd like to announce that we are going to be trying out a new feature. You can now optionally submit a large version of your SotW entry along with the standard entry sized shot. It can be up to 512 pixels wide which is the width of a screenshot taken in ZQ in large mode with the menus and such cropped out. You must enter a normal size screenshot or the large version will be shrunk to typical SotW size resulting in quality loss. Your large shot must be the same shot as the normal entry(within reason as we all know npcs move and sprites don't appear in ZQ). SotW will look the same but if you entered a large version your entry will act as a link or thumbnail to it. This is on a trial basis so if it all goes to hell it will be cut.

I'd like to also remind you all that AGN SotW has no voting etiquette. Everyone has a vote to use as they wish. If you entered the contest and wish to vote for yourself DO IT! If you want to vote for someone else or not vote that is fine too. Let's also see your opinions and reasons for your vote. We get a lot more votes than we do replies. Comments are encouraged! The only thing we ask is that you give what my HS Creative Writing teacher called "soft criticism." Which just means say things like "I am not fond of the way you used those mountains." instead of "You used those tiles wrong and it looks like shit!"

I voted for myself once, like the very first picture, and I felt silly for it. So I didn't do it afterwords. I also won't reach the attitude of "if I don't vote for myself, other people will vote themselves", but felt that was rather immature.

So since we can vote our own images, I will start on the reasoning that I should stand up for any image I believe in, but granted, at the same time, if I feel the competition's image is better, I will vote for the one I believe deserves the vote.

Screenshot of the week has been on a little hiatus because of 5th Quest and other events that have taken priority. This doesn't mean we have forgotten about it. Screenshot of the Week 22 has enough shots and will be posted ASAP. You can still submit an entry if you hurry.

I think it is time for a renewed focus on AGN's SotW. To encourage that I am lessoning the size restriction. This isn't 1999 after all! The width allowance for entries is now doubling to 600px instead of the tiny 300px. This will allow shots taken from ZQ Large mode(aprox. 512px with menus and panes cropped) to be entered without resizing. The optional large shots will now have no restriction on size what so ever. They still must be essentially the same shot as the mandatory entry shot.

Hope to see some entries!

Yes, you are being tagged in SotW contests. Some of our members expressed some of their peeves with frequent use of Force Reads. Since we enjoy giving our contest entrants as much exposure as possible I have changed my method to something less... obstructive, I guess. If you are absolutely adamant about not participating in SotW contests feel free to ignore the little notice in the top right corner. Better yet, vote! :D

If you are completely anti-social you can PM me and I will start a do not tag list for this kind of thing. Keep in mind this doesn't mean you will be excluded from future use of Force Reads for important announcements or being tagged by other users or staff for any other reasons. This will simply be a do not tag list for SotW. If you must. I won't hate you for making me maintain a list but I might attempt to curse you with voodoo and what not. Just kidding...

I was thinking about it and I believe we should remove the automatic moderation on submissions to the SoTW contest.

Yes, this means people will be able to see the shot before the contest begins.

HOWEVER! If the forum is not moderated members will be able to see when a submission is made in the forum feed and so they will be aware that the contest is collecting entries. I believe this is more important than a temporary span of privacy before the contest.
