So lately I've been busy doing something I love, making props. As a filthy ass cosplayer this is a very important thing. Anyway, so I've been swamped from commissions, and only now have been able to do work on my own Revolver Gunblade. So time to show some pictures as I finish this thing up.

This is where I'm at now. Sanded off excess bondo from the main body, getting ready to coat it in resin (polyester resin).

That's definitely an interesting skill and hobby. I hope it isn't too costly. If anything, it certainly introduces an individual to various building materials. Working in a hardware store myself, I can see the appeal to being exposed to so many possibilities and resources all at once.

based off of Link's sword in the original Zelda games, I managed to create something pretty nice using pieces of a wooden sword, old jewelry, twine, gold spraypaint, and the broken blade of an old claymore. Yes, that's right: I created an actual sword from the remains of another.

I sealed it with PVA glue, and then put the first coat of resin on. Its sitting outside curing, but since its cold out it'll take a few hours. As of 8:45pm it had the shiny patina. Tomorrow I'll paint it, and it should resemble actual metal.

That seems awfully small.

I've worked a lot in stage hand stuff backstage, and it's always fun to see props up close. Most our sets, for instance, were made out of carved foam n' paints. Got to be annoying if they got chipped off, but certainly better (and cheaper) than full frame wood.
