Just discovered it this morning. Looks like EA and Bioware are trying to bring back the feel of the classic Ultima 4 game. I read an article earlier in the year about how the game is considered a classic, yet most newer generations of gamers see it as unplayable. It sparked me to do a remake using RPG maker VX. It looks like someone with Intellectual Property rights has beat me to it!

The game is intended to be Ultima 4 like, rather than a remake. I'm told it is set a few years after the original and encourages the player to again take up the quest of the Avatar. The focus is to be the same as the intent of the original: personal enlightenment and being a good guy. (Instead of running around taking everything that isn't nailed down.)

Anyway, they are taking sign ups for beta at the link above, for anyone who may be interested.

Oh yeah, I signed up a while ago. Haven't heard anything, but I'm not exactly actively looking.

Either way, any news of an Ultima is good news. :]

As far as news goes, this is the lastest I found:

Though this one from July seems like it gives the best idea of what to expect:

As some Ultima games are on the top of my favourite games list, I was euphoric to see this some time ago, but then I was quickly overshadowed with doubts, after all, EA liked rushing Ultima games for a while, completely absolutely butchering Ultima IX, cancelling the Ultima X MMO and I hear from UO gamers that nowadays UO is pale compared to the older ones. So I have my doubts... but I will try to find time to try it if it is free.

I am in pretty much the same boat; excited to see a new game but skeptical that it will be done well. I never heard of Lord of Ultima until recently, and from what I've read it barely has anything to do with the property. Despite all that, I'm still eager to give try and see if it lives up to expectations. A free version would be best, beta or free-to-play. If they charge for it, I may wait for some reviews first.
I've heard mostly good things about Bioware, so maybe they could be the ones to rescue Brittania from the cluches of the Guardian.

I just got notice that this is available to download for your iDevice.

The rest of the world has to wait.

So far what I read is it's very IAP driven.
