Once again I am on AGN when I should be sleeping.

So I have been thinking about doing this since yesterday and figure I'd see if it'd work. Basically this thread is a place where you list a few personal goals you have been meaning to do and say what you are going to do or have been doing to reach them. Then you check back in about every week to say how it's going or update your goals. So we can help each other not be so damned lazy! >>It must be a goal you can accomplish on your own without relying on outside events or decisions of others.<<

My goals:

1. Stop drinking Dr Pepper(and any carbonated beverages)
2. Start a regular workout routine
3. Learn how to make a dungeon in ZQ

1. I have been addicted to soda for a long time. I have quit smoking, eating sweets, and certain "hard" drugs, but Dr Pepper has had me by the balls since I was like 16. I haven't drank it in a few days but that is because I have been sick and my throat is swollen. I get headaches if I don't get enough caffeine or sugar and I have a beer gut that I don't deserve as I only drink beer every few weeks. My first baby step will be to go a week without.

2. I have been trying to get fit for a couple years now. I am not the work out kind of person. I am used to working construction and being in shape by my job kicking my ass and the sun burning away my excess fat. The problem is I haven't had a steady labor gig in quite a while and I am a little pudgy around the edges. I have gone jogging a couple times in the last month. I plan to make jogging a twice a week thing to get my ass rolling.

3. Despite being a part of AGN and a fan of ZC for so long I have never really been well versed in quest making. I tried making quests every few years since ZQ was born and was usually stumped by laziness. I started getting interested in ZC a few months ago now and have learned a fair amount of ZScript and have made a few quest ideas. I have learned a lot in ZQ already but to this day I still have never made a complete functional dungeon and there are a lot of things about it that I have no Idea how to do. One of the staff at PureZC is making an up to date ZQ tutorial and I have been meaning to have a peak to learn all the crap I should have learned ages ago instead of bailing. I *believe* he has covered some about dungeons but I could very well be wrong.

Good luck. Kicking sugary drinks is hard, but doable. I have a harder time with diet than I do exercise.

My goals include losing another 10 to 15 pounds, and getting Bs or higher in my classes this semester.

Im going after the weight loss through a healhier, low calorie diet and my normal Army PT exercise routine. Lots of cardio, pushups and the like.

You're a braver man than me. I don't think I could ever give up soda.

I've stopped drinking Dr. Pepper two or three times and it never fails...1 leads to 5-10 a day.

I talked about caffeine headaches in another thread...maybe the coffee one in EaTS.

I'll post some goals later.

This is why I cannot buy 12 packs. It is always the same story. I buy a 12 or 24 pack thinking I'll save money and drink it sparingly so it lasts. 3 or 4 days later I have a stomach ache, buyers remorse, and a piece of cardboard that won't fit in my trashcan.

And mrz84 that doesn't fit the rules of the thread. For all you know you could die of that flu despite your best efforts.

Actually, I'm feeling better now. But you're right. I don't have much in the immediate goals really. Sorry.

It was a joke. I wasn't serious about the thread or your impending death. I am glad you are better.

Sorry, I'm not that good at noticing stuff like that, but thanks for the concern though.

Seven years ago I used to drink multiple sodas every day, and at least one with every meal. I moved out of my parent's house and I have not purchased soda from the grocery store since. I still drink it on occasion, but in general I tend to stick with water. Even with a free soda fountain at work it is pretty easy to pass up at this point.

Are you trying to imply that I live with my parents?! J/k. I have been able to stop drinking soda for short periods where it was easy to go without. Then one drink and BAM! sucked in again.
