... this is what AGN looked like (http://web.archive.org/web/20020921131833/http://armageddongames.net/).

Brings a tear to the eye...

Here's a list (http://wayback.archive.org/web/20080215000000*/http://www.armageddongames.net) of the years remembered by its crawlers.

So weird. Even though we've had tons of oldbies drop in, I'd still like to hear from quite a few...

Especially Eckels...:(

When I hear Eckels, I hear "Potato launcher."

If you remember that, you remember some damn good times.

Whenever I think of Eckels, I imagine AGN represented as a small town with Eckels happily riding around the streets in a bouncing light-blue van with the Pringles logo painted on the side of it.

Man AGN, Looked quite like a busy forum back in 02. I wish I was here around that time... I bet it was so awesome :D

Trust us, it was.

I'd go as far as to say that 2002 was the best year ever for AGN. We had hundreds of members posting thousands of messages every day, and it was like everyone knew eachother. The Internet was becoming much more mainstream and a lot of people were discovering what they could do with it for the first time. And on top of all of that, I was an Administrator at that time, shepherding us all through those glorious golden days.

Yep. If I was logged out for 24 hours, I would come back to three new pages of topics in GD alone.

Sounds like that was the best year ever for this place. Really I haven't seen a forum so active like that ever.
looking though the way back machine. This place was so freaking busy.

I'm sure that we can get this place back to the way it was. it just might take some time, And Time is all I got :P

That sounds like a ton of activity O_O, Man that doesn't even happen on PureZC, lol.

Cool. First time I came across the forums was in 05 or 06. I had no idea there was that much difference.

(I'm also a fan of the blue & gold look)

Yeah, the blue & gold look's really nice. If this place had a skin that mimicked AGN's 2002-era one, I'd use it in a heartbeat... not to suggest that the administrators here should let themselves get distracted from more pressing issues... ahem!

Damn. I've never been on a forum anywhere near that active... unless your threads-per-page was set to, like, 5. That's impressive.

I'd say it was easily 50 topics a day.

Hey, it looks like we may have a bit of that back. Nice job on the redesign there.

Maybe even more. I remember having 3 windows open at a time with different forums, remember, this was before tabbed browsing became popular.

What the heck is "Galaga Advanced"?

It was another project AGN hosted at one time. We used to have quite a few, a lot of them moved over to GU including Zelda II Enhanced and Open Zelda.

There are a couple other threads about it in the archives I believe. When I restore their permissions, I'll link ya. :)

That time period in 2002 is why some of us so desperately cling to this place. It was the best online experience ever. It was like you always had someone to talk to and something to talk about. There was never any shortage of conversation.
