My buddy and I might open a bar, once one of us has a steady job.

Discuss.

It's not impossible of course, but going into business for one's self is always more difficult. Remember that you will have to pay taxes as both an employee and an employer.

We started reading up on it last night. It'll be about 5 years til we have the quiche necessary to do it. We've sorta got a crew ready to run it, and he's friends with someone whose family owns bars in New Zealand, so he gave us a lot of tips.
Could be fun.

Good luck with AA. :p

So which one are you going to be; Charlie, Mac, or Dennis?

Open it here in OKC and you'll have a very loyal customer.

Ever considered adding a Hookah element to it? Little add-ons may spark additional revenue and interest, which lead to each other.

Be careful of Alcoholic Beverage Control. If they catch you serving to a minor even accidentally, not only will you lose your liquor licence and the company gets fined, but the server (bartender) who does it gets hit with a hefty fine as well.
At least that's how it is here in California. The laws are probably a bit different in your state.

There's a time in every man's life when he decides he wants to open a bar. You should name it "Puzzles".

I've never opened a bar, but I've closed a few!

Sounds like a great way to declare bankruptcy before your 30th birthday.
The first thing you should do after getting a steady job is to save up an 8-month emergency expense fund. Then invest at least $10,000 in stocks and bonds.
Hopefully by then you've created a good credit rating so you can secure financing for your "bar" at a favorable rate.

Or I guess you could go all in on the bar, blow your money on tattoos or whatnot, and then for the rest of your life you'll be able to tell chicks "Hey, I once owned a bar!"

Just for that, you don't get to come to my bar :(
