how long does it take for a quest to go to the database? I posted a quest about 3 days ago. Would i get an email to to say if i did something wrong? Or should i resubmit it in a few days?

The quest will go through usually whenever a QDB manager logs in to see what's been submitted. For example, right now I see that you have submitted Tropicana Island.

What happens next is we'll gloss over the submission page and see that everything is to code. If it is not, we would *NORMALLY* email the questmaker with a notice of why the quest was rejected, and delete the submission. In your case, however...

Important! Please read or your quest will NOT be published:

You must host your files on a server that allows hotlinking. Sites like Rapidshare where you have to pass through a portal to download uploaded files do NOT work with the quest submission system. Thank you for your understanding. For more information, please read this thread (http://armageddongames.net/showthread.php?86072-Read-This-Before-Submitting-A-Quest).

and...

YOUR DOWNLOAD WILL BEGIN SHORTLY
UPGRADE TO PRO TODAY!

In short, you did exactly what we told you not to do when submitting a quest.

Also, on a semi-unrelated note, your images did not work. When you copy the photobucket link, make absolutely certain it links to a screen with nothing but the image on it (in short, the same issue as your quest.)

http://armageddongames.net/showthread.php?86072-Read-This-Before-Submitting-A-Quest You posted in this very thread once, how did you miss it?

Where am i meant to host the file? it doessnt say that. Shouldnt it just upload from my hard drive like the purezc site. So do i just resubmit the quest link and photo links or the whole thing? I did what it said and made the link to the qst file. Should it be this?

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2hquazmmyhckyqq

because when i did this it doesnt give the qst bit but it does link to the file. And on the site it says make it link to the qst file.

is the html one the pic i need to put or img? In photobucket there are 4 options which do i use?

I tried to resubmit did i do it correctly this time?

No, you did not.

Your screenshots are correct, but you're still doing the same thing wrong with your quest file.

At the risk of sounding condescending, I don't know how else to explain this, and I have repeatedly been stressing the importance of it, both here on the board and in the site newsblog.

When i clicked properties of the download i got this

http://199.91.153.141/fjo2wfcf2tcg/2hquazmmyhckyqq/tropicana.qst

If this isnt the correct way to send it i might have to use a diffrent host.

When i clicked it it went to what yours did so ill try again with just the quest link.

On my netbook it went to as yours but on desktop it went to a portal sorry ill try another host.

i tryed again

I dont think mediafire can do what you want so i tried fileden which had a feature called direct downloading this should be made clearer.

That's what I've been trying to tell you: Get a different host. You cannot use Mediafire.

I can't accept this either, because you've included the quest file in your submission and absolutely nothing else. No description, no story, no screenshots, nothing. The form needs to be filled out in addition to having the file correctly linked.

Look people used to get quests in here just fine, all the time. You're making this more difficult than it really is:

When you submit a quest, fill out the form and make Damn sure that you can and are directly linking to the file. That's all we're asking.

That, and some screenshots.

This time i filled out everything and used direct link with photobucket and used filden which had direct download. I think it should work this time. Sorry for taking so long to figure it out but cutting and pasting links doesnt always work correctly.

This one should be good then. *crosses fingers*

Tox, I don't want to give you the idea that submitting *anything* to Zeldaclassic.com should be a pain in the ass. The only thing is, our system looks at the provided link and makes a copy of it, rather than actually magically hosting the quest. It just copies the given file and hosts that. What this means is, if you don't directly link to the file, anyone who tries to download it will get just a blank page instead. The system can't tell that it isn't actually copying a quest. You need to be certain of your links. test them.

Update: This is perfect, Tox. I can and AM putting this in the database now as we speak.

I think if there's an update in the future, we can replace the download file. However, don't submit the update to the database. Just PM the direct link to me, rocksfan, or darkdragon and we'll replace the url on file.

Actually,

Tox can submit it to the DB as long as he states somewhere that it IS and update.
It's the way we did it in the past.

Ill probably make updates to my other quest soon and fix any problems if any with this but it was beta tested to level 6 so there shouldn't be to many.

The version came as 1.90 its meant to be 1.92 b183 how do i fix this?

King Aquamentus
