Digdogger Kids

I was wondering what the 4 different Digdogger kids are for? That is, how do they differ from one another? Their data seems to be the same across the board, but surely there is a something?

I'm not certain, but I think they were made distinct so they could each be given different tiles, pre-enemy editor.
