Since there's no specific forum for this anymore. But my problem is thus:

I have a Win7 starter netbook. I have a Win7 Pro 64 PC. The PC has This thing crammed into it (http://www.trendnet.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=180_TEW-623PI&cat=167). What I wanna know is why I can't get the netbook to connect to the PC successfully, wirelessly. Primarily what I want to do is this (http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-your-windows-7-pc-into-a-wireless-hotspot)

It has worked before for me. Simply follow those instructions, hit connect on the PC so the wireless card broadcasts, and then hit connect on the netbook for a flawless result of a netbook able to use a PC's wired internet connection over wireless.

I think I maybe missed something? I've tried everything. Rebooting both machines, rebooting the modem (cable internet), using the one netsh int reset command (or thereabouts), but the netbook never has internet access even though in the PC's control panel, the LAN is set to allow other machines to share the internet connection. It's annoying to say the least. the least the netbook or PC could do is give me some obscure error code so I could google it or something. but the netbook always gets stuck at "no internet access". that is, apparent network access (despite the PC not being visible at all from the netbook) but no internet. goddamn it windows. :E

So yea, that's about it. Could I have missed something?

I browsed through the article pretty quickly, but I noticed that you did not give any details on the netbook. Does the netbook have Wireless N access? If not, is the desktop PC broadcasting the Wireless signal over N or is it broadcasting over whatever the netbook has access too?

Also when in your pseudo-connected state can you access local network resources such as file shares, printers or even a simple ping command against the host desktop?

I would assume so since the netbook is fairly new. How would I go about seeing what the card broadcasts and what the netbook can handle? I should note that the hardware has always been the same and I've managed to successfully connect the netbook to PC. once, I could even access shared files and wirelessly transfer files between machines.
