How do I save state?

From what I understand, save stating is possible, but I cannot figure out how to do it. I am using v2.10 by the way

Is it possible to do a regular save anytime, like how in original you held up and select at item menu?

There is no "save state" function, but you can press F6 to bring up the "CONTINUE, SAVE, RETRY" screen.
