Light force slowing the game down?

I'm playing ZC Build 1256 on Windows 7, and for some reason, the game slows down when Link possesses the Light Force Item.

Magic Ring level 4. Keeps MP constantly maxed out, I think. Same issue as this (http://armageddongames.net/showthread.php?45322-1200-refilling-magic-lags-the-game.), presumably.

I'm setting it up to profile right now. It would probably be easier for me to look at using windows; I can just set a high resolution timer to log various code portions; Much more accurate than using allegro timers or some kind of timeGetTime() thingy dingy.
