I've had this problem for a long time, and every time I start doing a ZC project, it continuously annoys me.

ZC has had this problem with it hanging when I exit it, then it never actually closes. It just hangs there in the taskbar. The only way for me to fix it is by going into the task manager and forcing the process to close. I know this bug has been present for a long time. Probably since the 800 builds, and it's happened on Windows 7 and Vista, and I believe Windows XP as well. The rate of it doing this is pretty high, too. I'd say somewhere between 1/4 - 1/2 of the time.

I plan on taking a deeper look at this. (I have an idea of possible causes) Can you go ahead and update the progress of this when the new
biuld comes out?

..Is it only ZC, or ZQuest as well?

I think I have had it happen in ZQuest, but it was a long time ago, and it was really rare. It's mostly ZC.

I've noticed ZQuest hang when opening 2 different quests back and forth without closing ZQuset, and then it hangs when you do close it

Alright. If either ZC or ZQ hang or crash on exit go ahead and post allegro.log here. -[Build 1151 or higher only] Or, if both end up crashing at some point post allegro.log twice in that case, one for each program...OR if it crashes once, but hangs another time....ok you get the idea. ;)

Hopefully there will be some continuity here from multiple testers and it won't take two or three builds to find out what exactly is happening. (crosses fingers)

Sorry, I haven't gotten a chance to test with ZC as much soon, so I didn't check this thread. I'll try to play around with it and get a log when I get the chance. But I have noticed it's a smart bug. :( Whenever I seem to try to test to see if I can pinpoint what might be causing it, it stops happening... until I give up, at least. :(

Well, after it was being annoying and avoiding me for when I was actually trying to find it, the problemcame up again. ZC is still hanging in my taskbar and in my processes, but I closed out around 5 minutes ago.

Does this happen to anyone else in the recent builds also?

Right now we have one hang in three weeks, and it's not really looking good right now.

I am currently downloading 1190 to check. This happens to me too in 1154, but for me, it is usually with ZQuest. I also have to use the task manager to close it, but usually, at that point it'll say it has stopped working, and needs to close.

If it says it has "stopped responding" which does not always mean it has stopped working, then you can choose to continue waiting. Windows requests a status update of programs every so often to make sure they are still working, a program doing some incredibly heavy work can be delayed at providing this status update which would cause Windows to show that message.

This has not happened to me in 1190 yet. Well, it did hang around for a second once, but it went away quickly.

Just happened to me in 1194 with use of Launcher (thats the only way zc works for me on Vista)

Yesterday with the zelda not quiting it messed with my whole computer I couldn't open any program any more if I choosed a program on my puter it went to properties , now by accident instead of the ZCLauncher I opened the ZQuest and ........it's hanging in the taskbar after closing again and will not close

Okay you guys asked for it. Anyone that is getting this in the current builds replace the allegro42.dll in build 1194 or higher with this one instead. Post the log file when it happens yada yada you know the drill. ;)

Well it's been a month without a word so I will assume it's not really a problem anymore. That, plus I no longer have the altered allegro source files to check your logs with so there's nothing I can do about it now really. ..Looks like limbo after all...

edit: I don't actually want to move it to limbo yet, but barring some major intervention from testers that's where it is heading since this bug doesn't seem present on any of the developers machines and so not much can be done about it.

Is this still happening? If it is, is there any common element among occurrences? Alternate music? Alt+tabbing out and back? Fullscreen, windowed, switching between the two?
