The Karate Kid (the new one)

If you don't try to compare it to the original and ignore the fact that the teacher is Chinese (wherein karate is Japanese in origin), it doesn't look bad. It could probably stand on its own without having to ride the coattails of the original, but then you'd have people crying "copycat!"

And the fly and chopsticks scene is nice. :)

Jackie Chan with facial hair? I've never seen that before and he almost doesn't look like the same guy. Other than the elementary school kids trying to beat up Chan it looks like it's worth a watch.

And yes, the fly and chopsticks was great.

It doesn't look too bad for yet another needless remake. At least this time the kid is actually a kid. Still, no matter how badass Jackie Chan is, he is no Mr. Miyagi. Wax-on-wax-off > jacket-on-jacket-off.
