2.10 won't work on Vista. You'll need to download the newest beta from shardstorm.com.

I could help you out better if you could type better and spell better. I'm having a hard time understanding what you're saying. :)

Anyways, once you download the folder, unzip it. Then, open the program called ZLaunch. From there, it's pretty obvious how to open Zelda Classic. If you need more help, just ask.

Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I didn't realize that.

Anyways, I found out what the problem is,. Build 1007 is for a Mac computer. Try this: http://www.shardstorm.com/zc/alphas/1000-windows.zip

Hm, that's very strange? Are you getting the message when you open Zelda_W or ZLaunch? Or when you try to run Zelda Classic from ZLaunch?

aceina

both

Russ

Okay, try this. Open ZLaunch. Go to the ZC tab, and set it to run in windowed mode (it's something like 680x820, or some similar number). Then try to run ZC with the button on the bottom and see what happens.

Ok, I seem to have to repeat this on every thread this comes up in. So, let's get this straight.

Versions that you can get to work in vista (no dual boot or other different OS tricks used):
1.00
1.92b184 (http://www.ermock.com/zeldaclassic/zc192a184w.zip) <- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ LINK, USE FOR ALL 1.92bX (X = whatever beta it was made in) QUESTS.
2.10
2.10.1
2.10.2 (http://www.armageddongames.net/zeldaclassic/files/zc2102wl.zip) <-HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ LINK, USE FOR ALL QUESTS BUILT IN 2.10.
2.11 (any beta, although I doubt you'll still find a mirror of one on the web, don't worry though they aren't needed for anything, just use 2.5)
2.5 (http://www.shardstorm.dreamhosters.com/) (any alpha) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ LINK, USE FOR ALL 2.5 BUILD QUESTS. But be warned, these are alpha builds and there is always a potential for a corruption bug, or another highly severe bug. Just backup your quest files and tread lightly while using these until a finished safe version is out.

Now, these are all the ones I've gotten to work in vista. So, if it doesn't work after the tips I'm going to suggest it's more than likely a hardware problem, driver problem, service pack problem, or user problem, but it is not the OS.

Ok, I've included links to the recommended versions, and I would highly recommend using only those three kinds. Because the others are either inferior or just not needed (to build or to play).

So, how do I get these to work in vista one asks, well there are many things to try. There are 3 main things that usually fix all problems, and they are as follows:
*Use ZCLauncher (seemingly most effective tactic), it comes with all 2.5 alpha builds and it also comes with 2.10.2 but if you need a link to it for whatever reason here it is by itself: http://sjnetwork.net/downloads/zcl20a004.zip
*Right click the application icon and click Properties. From here go to the Compatibility tab and check the Run this program as an administrator. Click apply, then OK.
*Make sure vista is updated to the latest service pack

That should make it work, if you have anymore problems or questions please go ahead and post about it, but make sure you are specific about the problem or else it'll take another 10 posts to get an answer.

Did you browse around until you found the file? I mean, unless you put the file in the folder ZC is in, you have to look around for it. The first area where it has files you can load in is the folder ZC is in. If the game is a different folder browse around in that box until you find it.

Also, what game is it?

aceina

and its called TG_link (not found on this stie i think found it on the TG site ig o to)

Can you send the link to the file so I can maybe try it out and diagnose the problem?

Works for me, explain to me exactly how you're loading it. The version of ZQ, the folder the game is in, and the way you are trying to load the game.

Wait, are you trying to edit it? Or play it? Zelda Quest (ZQ) is the editor, and Zelda Classic (ZC) is the player.

Also the 'things' are labeled for a reason. So, you downloaded 192b184? Well, I was under the impression you wanted 2.10, since...that's what you've been asking for this whole time. Well, downloaded 2.10.2, put the quest file in the same folder you extracted 2.10.2 to. Go into the folder, open up ZCLauncher, launch Zelda Classic to play it.

Then, follow the instructions on this video to load the game into a new file:
