I've been expanding my arcade games recently, and getting them into our basement. Other than the games in the shots below, I also have a Nintendo sit down that has Mario and Excite Bike, as well as two T-Mek sit downs, that won't make it to the basement. If you've ever played it, you know why.

I also just fixed up my Punch-Out control panel. It was really beat up before and had a really sloppy joystick. I took forever to get the old control panel overlay off of the panel. Between a ton of sanding and half a bottle of goof off I finally did it. I got a Nintendo joystick, all new bolts, overlay, orange buttons, and it looks great now. Here is a before and after:

I also got these DK wall graphics from Think Geek last week.

There was a battletoads arcade machine? I never knew.

I didn't know it existed until I bought it, and honestly, I prefer it to the NES version.

Pretty neat, from a historical point of view. How do you go about finding them for purchase? Ebay? Local dealers?

I used to have mrs pac man and some other arcade machines but I had to sell them.

I got mine from an arcade/bar that was closed down.

I'll probably never own a cabinet, but I could grow my hair out and get a mustache and call myself "Rocket Arcade Ranger" or something cool and 80's like that. I think my dad looked like that for awhile... he was pretty good at that stuff... What's really scary? He looked (at the time) like Billy Mitchell does today.

you know what's even scarier than that?

That's my name. I kid you not. I took out the y so as not to be confused with the Arcade champion.

Ebay, auctions, other collectors.
There all around, and can be had very cheap.
I have less than 200 dollars in battletoads.
That's an extreme example of a really good deal, but deals are there to be had.

I plan on building a cabinet from scratch someday and putting a PC in it with a MAME emulator and tons of roms. Not sure I'll ever have the kind of money to sink into actual vintage cabinets since I've budgeted my future earnings for other financially demanding projects.

But yeah, very cool.

Dude. Totally freaking awesome!

:P That's just absolutely awesome. I wish I had a basement like that.

That's an awesome setup you have there, man. Very impressive. What's that cabinet in the corner, just past Punch Out!!?

That, sir, is one of the best ideas I've ever heard.

A PlayChoice-10 would be a nice addition. It holds 10 NES games, and there are like 40 games that you can buy. They're all interchangable, too.

Very cool WL. We used to have Punch Out in the arcade I worked at. It was really fun. Paper Boy too! I thought the bike handle controls were neat on that one.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is one of my favorite arcade games, and the arcade I used to work at was the only one in Ocean City that still had it. It's gone now though. My friend who used to work there with me bought it for his apartment in DC. Apparantly for cheap too. Probably helped that his mom manages the place. Darn it

I've never had a Play Choice pop up near me at a reasonable price or I'd have one.

I've actually never played Marvel vs Capcom, however I've been playing a bit of SNK Vs Capcom, which I'm having fun with.

That's awesome you worked at an arcade. I wish I had at some point.

I got mine in Michigan for a good $3oo. It was in pretty decent shape, and it had Double Dragon and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! on it. I added Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game to it.

Yep. 6 summers down Ocean City. Started when I was 13. It was fun.

MvC is great, but MvC2 is even better cause it has so many characters. It has everyone from all from the other VS games (save for SNK), and then some. That includes MvC, X-Men Children of the Atom, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, etc. Though I will say Ryu is awesome in the first MvC cause he can transform and do Ken and Akuma's supers moves in addition to his own.

btw, I can whip just about anyone in Top Skater, in case you ever get the dough and space for that ;)

I have plans to make a cocktail cabinet, buy a monitor, and hook an NES up to it. I'd have a few Advantages...I'm getting offtopic.

That's cool stuff. I really dig the arcade cabinets.

I've had plans on getting my own together, except it would be like Belderan (putting my old PC with Kawaks on it into a cabinet, install some sort of vents, some speakers, and mount a large CRT).

Infact, I've had this (http://www.xgaming.com/two-player.shtml?__utma=1.1699334542509572000.12211413 23.1221141323.1221141323.1&__utmb=1.1.10.1221141323&__utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1221141323.1.1.utmcsr=mameroom.com|utmccn =(referral)|utmcmd=referral|utmcct=/categories.asp&__utmv=-&__utmk=40874402) in my firefox bookmarks for half a year now.

I would have made a MAME, but I already have one. Plus, an NES would be much easier to wire. Let's stop being offtopic and keep watching as new posts erise here.

We just bought the house last year so hopefully we won't be moving any time soon.
The basement is a straight shot from the garage though, so these aren't bad to get down to the basement, I actually moved them there by myself.
Coming back up is more difficult, but not much if one person pulls on the dolly from the top, while someone pushes from below.

It took me and two nextdoor neighbors to get the PlayChoice-10 in the basement. And at that point, I didn't know a thing about electrical wiring. Neither did the guy we bought it from, but we from, but we figured setting a game to freeplay had to be pretty self explainatory, and it was.

So what games did you get on the Neo-Geo? Or did it come with any?

I used to play one a lot called Blue's Journey. I could get through the whole thing in a single quarter. So yah me. Also, I played that World Heroes... 2 I think. And there was some game called Magician's Lord... or something like that. It was pretty hard.

I own a cartridge for Metal Slug 4, King of Fighters 98, and King of Monsters 1 and 2.

I currently have a cartridge in there that has 100 games on it. It's nice since I can only have one cartridge in there at a time.

Yeah, my old house had a huge hole in the wall opposite the stairs where my dad accidentally rammed our full-sized arcade pinball machine into the wall.
Good times, good times.

Are they like real neogeo quality games or is it like one of those 100 game carts they had for genesis?

War Lord

They're all the actual games. There's not 100 actual games on it though. A lot of them are hacks of games already on there. Plus versions and such.

WL, I was looking at the pictures on your video game collection web page. For your N64 games, are they all in the original boxes, or did you buy game cases and print your own inserts? And if you printed your own inserts, where did you print them? (Kinko's? Staples? On your own printer?) I want to print some inserts for games, but I don't have a good printer, and many stores won't let you because of copyright issues...

War Lord, that T-Mek looks awesome. It reminds me of S.T.U.N. Runner, which is certainly a game that I would want in my fantasy collection.
