Which one should I choose? What are the major differences?

2.5 versions are "experimental" and contain both stable and unstable elements. There are many new items, though some are experimental. These include several items and ways to modify the game. However, these versions are not official and only recently has the ZC database begun to recognize them.


2.10 quests are accepted both here and on PureZC, and may be a bit more stable. (though stability is debated and 2.10 is certainly not the most stable, 2.10 is the latest official version, and if you're looking to get people playing, it is your best bet.) new versions of 2.5 keep coming and going, but 2.10 is 2.10, and easier for people to play.

I would start with 2.10 until you become rather skilled. All of the stuff could be overwhelming if you just start ZC. If you are familiar with ZC, then you could probably go on to 2.5.

Some 2.5 builds are more stable than 2.10 imo.
There are alot of new features designed to make building quests easier in 2.5.
backwards compatability is better with 2.5.
PureZC does not accept quests made with ZC versions prior to 2.10. AGN however, does.
2.10 is less likely to crash. (Unless you try to import something, then it is guaranteed ;).

Version 1.92 beta 183 has almost all the features of version 2.10, and it's arguably more stable. 1.92 is what I recommend for someone who's never used the program before.

If all you care about is stability then use 2.10.2.
