So, since Zelda Classic 2.5 is getting very close to completi-- *attempts to quiet down riotous laughing crowds for five minutes*

Anyway, I wanted to make a promotional trailer for Zelda Classic 2.5 that could be put on Youtube or whatnot and spread around to other places cause, let's face it, a lot of people still think we're stuck on version 1.92. I have some ideas about what to do for the video, especially regarding ZQuest and such, but the main crux of the idea is to show the potential of the engine, and the only way to do that is to show off quests.

Now, I could just go about and do everything myself and pick and choose whatever quests I want, but I don't think that'd be fair to the people who made those quests, not to mention it'd be disrespectful. So I'm putting this topic out here to see which quest makers are willing to allow their quests to be used for such a video. Also, suggestions about thematic elements of the trailer, as well as what to show off are welcome and encouraged.

I've been out of the loop for too long and have taken months doing what I could've done in weeks, but we're too close to quit now. People need to know that ZC still exists and I think this'll at least be a small step in that direction.

Well, we definitely need to show lots of scripts. I'm thinking the pong one should go in, as well as a few really neat ones, like Epona and the Cane of Somaria.

As for quests, you'ld have to ask the creators, but I think some clips from Lost Isle and Hero of Dreams (specifically the level 3 boss) would be good.

Ya, I'm not quite sure. It's like whack-a-mole. You bang one bug down, and two more pop up somewhere else. :D

I meant to mention this on msn earlier actually but I forgot.
If you want me to find some projects of mine that you could show parts of (I have at least 6 or so half finished projects which have interesting scripts/gameplay that you might want to look at), I'm happy to go through and have a look.

And we could show off a little of Sabotage Dragoon (Portraits, great special effects, great music, etc.) and Zodiac, and most of Gleeok's works, and Peteo's Megaman game, and level 2 of Lost Isle. Should also work in This (http://www.armageddongames.net/forums/showthread.php?t=104595) somewhere too. It's damn good stuff.

I mean there's a lot of good stuff out there; I'm not choosing the best. I'm just choosing stuff off of the top of my head, which gets pretty chaotic at times.

If you really want to show some scripting power: http://www.armageddongames.net/forums/showthread.php?t=104884

The Zelda 2 remake that blue_knight has been working on looks fantastic and there are already posted youtube videos of some game play. I think it would be quite impressive to show that ZC now has the capability to do this.

What about DD's Labrynth of Wisdom game. That was in 3D! That's got to be worth something.

That's a great idea jman. By now there is certainly tons of 2.5 developed content and goodies to show off. Of course you can always feel free to use anything I make in ZC without asking me first. That's why it's there I suppose.

What are we talking about here, length-wise, for the trailer?

EDIT: Some great suggestions so far in this thread as far as ideas for quests to show off. I second all of these.

Heh, adding to the list, what about Metroid-style Zodiac and Neofirst? Those are pretty fun, and show off tons of scripting power.

It's just my humble opinion, but how about a screenshot or two of the most downloaded quest in the quest database.....Link To Tortuga.

Well, the original idea was to show off actual game play, not just screenshots. But Link to Tortuga was one of the first quests that came to mind (along with Lost Isle among a few others).

What's with all these 1.9X and 2.10 quests being suggested for use in a trailer to show off 2.5?

It isn't just for showing off 2.5 itself, but also for stimulating awareness of ZC in general. The long development time has been offputting to newbies from what I've observed.

Gotcha.

Hey, um, not to blow my own trumpet here, but maybe there's room in the movie for some, ahaha, NeoFirst footage?

M-maybe just a few seconds to show off the flashy stuff: the grass-fire script (http://l.j-factor.com/zeldaclassic/neofirst033.png), the super-secret weapon (http://l.j-factor.com/zeldaclassic/switchhook.png) and that new teleporter effect that isn't in a released file yet. (And, um, maybe the beginning cutscene?)

I find this clip of Peril of Rectangle Country quite amusing, shows off a decent scripted boss. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dJ8AP1Yx6g&feature=channel_page)

You can probably squeeze in 7 seconds of it or whatever. :O

Scripted boss ahoy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9rYDcEQ4L0) Despite the fact that the script isn't even "complete" (in the sense that more than 2 moves are needed, otherwise it's functional 100%), maybe like a glimpse (i.e. 1-2 seconds) of it could be fitted in :o
