I can't get 190 to work with xp, only problem is zquest.txt not found, any help?
I seem to be asking this question a lot, 190 has been an obsession with me for many years, I'm a person who really craves nostalgia types of things. This for some reason incoherently ended up being of of them. I figured if AGN can't help, then I'm done.

Have you tried running ZC in a Dos emulator, like DOSBox?

Also, I better warn you. Although the Zquest portion of v1.90 works fine, ZC might crash when you pick up a quest item, such as one of the swords.

1.90 works fine for me - are you sure zquest.txt is in the same folder as the other 1.90-related files?

I've had this problem before, too, and even when I had zquest.txt in the same folder, the error still kept appearing. The emulator was the only way I could solve the problem. (Why does ZC1.90 need zquest.txt in order to run, anyway?)

It doesn't - I deleted zquest.txt and ZC still worked.

The only problem I have with 1.90 is that it always tries to access my FDD when changing the quest directory, choosing a custom quest, etc. But hey, it was written differently back then. :)

It happens on DosBox too.
