Quote: Jenny's phone number is for sale, but not for a song. "867-5309/Jenny" originally appeared on Tommy Tutone's "Tommy Tutone 2" album.

Bids for a New Jersey version of the number, stuck in the minds of millions since Tommy Tutone's "867-5309/Jenny" hit the Top 10 in 1982, had reached $5,100 on eBay as of Monday morning.

-----------------------------------------

A very famous phone number... no matter the area code in front of it.

Yes folks, for the low low price of $5100, you too can prove that:

1) You are a dumbass.
2) You have too much money.
3) You have shitty taste in music.

ACT NOW!!!

And you can forever be bothered by the hundreds of people a year who call this number, just to see who it is/make a joke about it being Jenny.

Actually, it's up to 150,000.

To be fair, he's also selling his DJ company...not that that makes it any more worth it.

I have to second what ctrl-alt-delete said. People will call that number nonstop thinking it's funny/a good idea. So someone is willing to pay 150k to be annoyed like hell... smart.

Edit: Also, lmao that he's selling his "DJ Company" along with the number. It would be funny if said company was saddled with debt and the buyer unwittingly signs on to agree to take responsibilty for all that debt.

That's awesome. I never actually thought about selling that number.

While I was away at school my phone number was 814-867-xxxx. So theoretically somebody in State College, PA had that number. College-age students would never do anything immature like endlessly prank-call that number while under the influence of adult beverages, so I'm sure the lucky resident was fine.

One of my friend's phone number matched that of the local Wal-Mart save for the last two digits being reversed. He had to field several wrong numbers daily.

Also, apparently my cell phone number is pretty close to that of a CVS as I occasionally have to field calls inquiring about the status of one's prescriptions. I'm not a total douchebag so I politely tell them they have the wrong number after they finish their spiel.

My parents' phone number (and my phone number growing up) is (XXX) XXX-4130; local radio station KBRC, found at 1430 AM, was XXX-1430; local chicken farm Draper Valley was XXX-1340. We got a lot of wrong numbers where the person would just start talking as soon as we said hello and would have a hard time understanding that they had misdialed.

My phone number is 1-900-SEX-BISCUITS and I get lots of weird calls.

Well, he's definitely being sarcastic. If you're still not convinced, there is no '900' area code (at least not in the Americas).

Debt would be hilarious.

Told ya...false claim or not, I bet it gets a whole fucking lot.

253 (WA) -- "You probably called this number bcause you're drunk, bored, or stupid. If you were given this number and asked to call jenny, it's a stupid song. If you were given this number at a bar, that means the person doesn't like you. If you were given this number for some hot chicks phone number that means they don't wanna talk to you. The fact that you called this number mmeans you probably have no social life and you need to grow up. Probably drunk, bored, or stupid or they just don't like you."

If you could set it up on some kind of premium rate thing, where it cost the caller £5 a minute and went straight to your bank account...

Yeah, give me a call.

Seriously Russ, how many numbers are there in a phone number?

$365,700!? I'll bid on that! I want to get strange calls from men and women! Yes, indeed!

Seriously, why are people even bidding on this? It would be more of a burden then a gift.

Seriously Russ, how many numbers are there in a phone number?
Well, all the commercials gives longer numbers than there are digits. The phone just ignores the last few numbers. Do technically it could work.

If that were the case, I think I'd be buying that number. More like an investment then a purchase. :)

For those that don't know, 1-900 numbers are pay-per-minute phone sex numbers. So, yeah my number is not 1-900-SEX-BISCUITS.

I can't believe I had to explain that.

Modus Ponens

But they're not all sex numbers. Nintendo had a game help hotline (and maybe they still do) that was a 900 number, and you REALLY had to coax those guys into phone sex.

Yeah but once they got going it was fucking h0t, so my point stands.

its now up to, $434,544.44

the whole story is its some guys DJ business and he is selling it with the notion it is an easy number to remember, that also gets lots of calls for no reason... good for some types of business!

Nah, it would have to be a Tommy-roll.
See, that's what makes it so brilliant - people would be expecting a Tommy-roll. People would be completely blindsided.
