Irena Sendler:
Forged documents to get a job in the Warsaw Ghetto
Helped remove roughly 2,500 children
Got caught, was beaten within an inch of her life
While in prison for her "crime", defied her German captors
Survived a coin-toss-and-you're-executed scenario
Reunited several families post-war
Never made a dime

Al Gore:
Made a lot of money off of a documentary
Gives speeches about topics that smart people can't agree on (makes money off of them)

Obviously, Mr. Gore and his friends are much more deserving of this great honor.

Seriously - even I have to ask, what has Al Gore actually accomplished? He hasn't solved global warming. He didn't even discover it, or really even help get it mainstream attention. He made a movie about a subject that the rest of the world has known about since the 80s.

And it's not like anything we do makes one iota of difference at this point, anyway. Scientists have discovered that enough extra heat and CO2 has been stored in the oceans that even if we shut off all carbon emissions today, we're still gonna have a problem for the next 1,000 years anyway. So we really might as well just say to hell with it and keep polluting anyway. Seriously, screw it, man.
