This is really pissing me off. Is there any way to turn it off?

I agree, I just hate the pop-up box that comes up whenever you are over something. For new players it's alright, but for the ones that have been here longer and know what they're doing...

Perhaps a toggle for this in the "options" part of the menu?

Maybe it could only pop up if we hold Ctrl or something.

(Though I have not yet been able to successfully locate the "something" key on my keyboard, I am told that it exists regardless. ... ... The hunt continues then.)

Maybe it could only pop up if we hold Ctrl or something. I sort of agree with you. Control isn't really the best key to use, since it is already used for something. I'd say use F1, but that's the out-of-date help file... On second thought, just use F1.

Well, I've already added the option to turn tooltips off. I just haven't committed the changes yet.

also, maybe add an adjustable delay before the tooltip pops up? like how you can adjust the screen saver. Have it range from 0 seconds (instant) to 60 seconds.

Uh so, you want to hover your mouse over an object for LONGER then 60 full seconds, why? and you can still disable them entirely with a checkbox somewhere... DN said that was already done, but not committed.
