The config file is set to use the joystick by default, so you might have to go into the .ini file and change that setting. Default keys are Y,G,B,J for directions, and I think ASDG for buttons.
The options on the config screen, from top to bottom (you can unlock them by killing certain amounts of bosses, or by putting in the Konami Code at the title screen :D): How many E cans you start with. How much post-damage invincibility time bosses get. There's 3 settings (none, original MM2, and in-between). The game's overall speed. Whether or not there's a limit on how many shots can be on the screen at once.
For a...different experience, go out the left gate at the start (yes, it opens :p). Follow the ladder to an alternate underwater arena with spikes on the ceiling, Things are a bit different with everybody able to jump so high (and of course the bosses don't die to the spikes *grumble grumble*).
Strategy I used to beat it on the hardest settings with no E cans (eventually :sweat:): Start by using up the Time Stopper, but don't switch weapons yet. Hit the fire button once after it runs out to make Crashman jump, and then switch to Air Shooter. Try to hit Crashman with all three Air Shooters at once for a one-shot kill (yes, that actually works here :laughing:) Now hug the left wall and stick Crash Bombs in it until you're out. Pay attention to the ammo meter, because there'll be 3 bosses (Flashman, Bubbleman, and Quickman) on top of you by now, and sometimes they suck up the bomb itself instead of getting hit by the explosion. With Quickman dead, stay there and throw Metal Blades straight up to kill Flashman and Bubbleman. Switch to Metal Blades, and throw some at Woodman since his shield is probably down by now. You might have to jump an incoming Leaf Shield first though, and with the collision detection this isn't easy, and since it does 8 bars of damage and you're probably down to half health by now it really helps not to get hit by it. Stay in the left corner for now though, because... ...by now, Airman will have thrown his three tornado spreads and is jumping over to you. Wait in the left corner (yes, still) until he lands in front of you, then hold still and spam the Leaf Shield. He should be dead before he gets a chance to start the fan. Woodman is probably about to throw another Leaf Shield. Jump it (hopefully), and pwn him with Metal Blades. Try not to get hit, but if there's no other way, try to get hit by one of Metalman's blades, rather than the falling leaves or fire; the Metal Blades only do 3 bars of damage, but the others do 4, so getting hit by a blade would mean a potential extra hit that could save you. Now only Metalman and Heatman are left. Throw some Metal Blades above Heatman's head (you don't want to hit Heatman yet, or he'll come flying your way, and you don't want that just yet.) and hope that Metalman jumps into them. Hopefully you have at least enough health left to take a hit from Heatman's shots (4 bars)...you probably won't survive direct contact with him, though (8), and the timing to jump over him when he charges you is a little strict. :sweat: Just focus on dodging, and wait for him and his shots to settle down before you let the Bubble Lead loose on 'im. You don't wanna die so close to the end of the fight. :p
