View Full Version : There Should TOTALLY be a Thread Like This...

I was thinking; GD has "So..." which is for random pointless crap. So, why not have a thread for small, and obscure ZC questions and stuff? It would cut down on one-reply threads, and such... I doubt it will catch on, but I'll kick it off with a question.

Wasn't there a password for 'demo.qst' that comes packaged with Zelda Classic 1.00? I thought C-Dawg released the password a while ago, or that is was public. I thought it popped up on PureZC. I'm not talking about the cheats, I'm talking about the actual Quest password. I'm asking because how in the hell are you supposed to know to keep at least 6 bombs for those three Dodongos after the two Manhandlas?

Thanks.

With the bomb stun trick, you only need 1 bomb. :)

Heh, there aren't really enough people who post in ZC here frequently enough for a thread like this surely?

I guess I kind of forgot about that with it being removed form newer versions.

Okay. But, I still remember there being some sort of password. I just want to look at the maps.

PM made demo.qst to "showcase the features of Zelda Classic" - presumably that includes the quest password system.

I'm fairly certain that PM put the password on the quest for a reason. Unless someone can point me to a page by PM that shows the password for the quest, any posts revealing said password will be deleted.

Aah, sorry. I can't verify that he actually made it public, so someone better start digging! D:

It's removed?
Really?

I never use dodongos nowadays.

The bomb trick was removed? Dang! I used that all the time!

Shazza Dani

Why was it removed? Wasn't it like that in the original game?

I think there might be two different bomb tricks here... The one I thought DN was talking about was a glitch, I think. It was something like after bombing them once, they can be stabbed from a certain spot, and they'd die? Then, there was some other one where you can get a super bomb every time (maybe using a super bomb?). Either way, I'm not really sure which anyone was talking about, but I thought one of them was fixed.

Dark Nation

Uh, both should still be there. Can someone confirm?

Anthus
12-01-2008, 10:09 PM
Actually, the super bomb thingy is still in tact (in 2.10). I think it is intentional, since it happens EVERY time. It makes sense too, I guess.

The other one, however, I was never quite sure exactly how it worked in the first place, so I can't confirm

I thought that bombing in front of the Dodongo then stabbing it was how it was supposed to work, not a glitch like some people seem to think it is. Anyhoo, I don't know if it was removed 'cause I still use version 1.92. http://www.purezc.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/icon_cool.gif /This emoticon means I'm awesome.

Yeah, "DONDONGO DOESN'T LIKE SMOKE"
It's supposed to stun it, so you can slash the body.

Actually, I believe the quote is "DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE." :D

Anyways, the trick is a lot easier to preform if you place the bomb on the dodongo rather than in front of it.

Of course, it's easiest of all to do it by feeding it one bomb, and quickly placing the next so that it explodes on it just after it becomes vulnurable again. It's not as "cost efficient", but you still make a gain.

please don't remove the stunned-by-bombs Rhino. never tried the superbomb. I have 1.90, will it shit out another if I use one?

rocksfan13

Yes. If you use a superbomb on Dondongo, it will give you another.

But, I agree with System Error, it's more efficient to do it that way. You use 2 and gain 2. In a room full of Dodongos, that's the best way I would do it.

There are quest where you only can get through a room when you use one of those tricks , if those tricks don't work in a new version you can never play them in the new version

The Dodongo Bomb Trick in question works as follows:

If the Dodongo is facing North or South: Have the bomb explode on either side of its head. If the Dodongo is facing East or West: Have the bomb explode on its forehead or chin. You may then slash its head while it is stunned to receive the same bomb that you used to kill it, be it a regular bomb or a Super bomb. Custom bombs have yet to be tested.I haven't used this trick in a while though.

The trick I use:
Lay a bomb on a dodongo so it eats it.
Lay another bomb.
Hit with sword.
Easy, always works and doesn't need any luck with stunning, dodongo can face any direction too.

Who needs bombs? I punch Dodongos in the face. >:D

Speaking of which……remember the fist ring or whatever it was called, in the Oracle games? ZC needs that!

Hrm...
Just as an equipable item like?

Shazza Dani
12-11-2008, 09:07 PM
I guess it would have to be an equipable item, because in the Oracle games you were required to remove your sword; but that wouldn't work in ZC because you can't leave an item slot empty unless you don't have any items.

But I'm not asking anyone to make this—I don't think I'd even use it.

So, I find myself drawing out elaborate dungeons on paper, but I have no desire to do it in ZC despite thinking about it, and stuff :/

The pasat few weeks/months I haven't touched ZC at all, but I've been thinking a lot about wanting to make a quest. So today I decided to download the newest build and play around with all the new stuff I'm not familiar with yet.

On a related note, someone should respond to my thread here: http://www.armageddongames.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1201645#post1201645

This is why one of the first things I do whenever I start a quest, or work on one, is get to work on stuff like the Dungeon Carving modes and Relational modes, and then the Combo Aliases. Once you've got those down pat, dungeon creation speed increases by at least three to four times. It makes it far more tolerable.

Also, making just one screen a day sort of helps. Or, doing a whole bunch at once. Allot yourself about twenty minutes out of your day, all in the same sitting to do it. Sometimes it'll really get your spark of creativity worked up, and you'll keep going. Just have to force yourself.
