For those who have visited bash.org (an IRC quote posting website), it's basicaly the same thing, except the quotes are taken from Christian Fundamantalists. These are the top 100 rated-quotes and ... I don't believe it. I really can't believe in my right-mind how people can have opinions like that. From the one who says he's organizing a joke stoning on openly-gay people at his school to the others that say that raped women are not victims and that it was god's will for them to be raped and that they should accept their fate and raise the children ... I just freaking don't believe it.
Some of the quotes there are basically just "internet arguing" about subjects like evolutionism vs creationism. Those are quite funny even. However, most of the others, I just stood there jaw dropped at how immoral and close-minded some of theses could be ...

If I didn't know so many people who are just like this, I would find it hilarious. As it is, it's just depressing, because its real.

I got down as far as the one about the father who was asking about his son who came out, where it noted at the end that the son eventually took his own life. I had to stop there as I was starting to feel sick.
I hate fundies, I really do. (Note I said fundies, not all Christians). And none of those really make me laugh. -_- Except maybe how all these people are saying the King James version of the Bible is the most accurate, when it is in fact the least... seeing as how the meaning of the words chosen was totally disregarded in favor of poetic style. Ugh.

Like where it talks about Moses parting the Red Sea, when in fact the Latin Bible says he parted the "sea of reeds" which most biblical scholars agree refers to the boggy marshes of the Nile river delta - which were very treacherous to cross in those days.
The point being, that these people aren't even really being fundamental. Rather, they have created their own interpretation of what the Bible says, and that particular interpretation must be right. If you're going to strictly interpret what the Bible actually says, then fine. But this is absolutely absurd.
edit:
And no Bel, I'm not saying that basing your world view on a strict interpretation of the Bible is a good thing. I'm just saying that it would be one thing to do that, but another thing to be so inflexible on what amounts to a totally arbitrary interpretation of it.

One I found funny was the one where the father really had NO CLUE about life and thought that his son had a secret girlfriend that was hiding gay porn mags under his bed. It didn't even cross his mind that his boy could be gay.
Yeah, that one was funny ... but most of them made me want to puke.

Ugh, I just find this stuff to be so utterly appalling. I can't even find it amusing because the thought that it represents what is considered a legitimate worldview in our society is just so thoroughly repulsive (that's not a bash at religion, to clarify, that's a bash at fundamentalism).
You know, I've never understood why the "sea of reeds" business has never been fixed. Forget the Latin, in the original Hebrew, it quite plainly says "sea of reeds."

No, everyone is born Christian. Only later in life do people choose to stray from Jesus and worship satan instead. Atheists have the greatest "cover" of all, they insist they believe in no god yet most polls done and the latest research indicates that they are actually a different sect of Muslims.
...0_o...that second sentence is one of the most incoherent things I've heard in years...
I mean...researching Atheism...Muslims..wha...

*read up to the post about the girl who was raped and then BURIED ALIVE*
...I've read enough. *CLOSES BROWSER WINDOW VEHEMENTLY*
I'm sorry, but this is retarded. I wish I could say more, but I can't.
This is a prime example of what happens when people get waaaay too emotional and attached to something. They cling to it like a drowning man and in the end they sink themselves AND the guy who was trying to save them!
Sheez...this is way too freakin much. How ANYONE could believe that a girl being raped and then BURIED ALIVE FOR GOODNESS'S SAKE was a gift from God to show the light to others...I'm am sorry, but whoever wrote that needs to grow a brain. Something like that is NOT GOOD IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, AND ANYONE WHO THINK SO IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
...Ugh...I HATE fanatics. Of pretty much anything.

John 3:16-21 (New International Version)
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
I know Christ, but unfortunately far too many who claim to know and do know Christ in America are so stuck in their sub-culture of vitriolic zeal of condemnation of everyone who isn't up to their standard of hypocrisy. Christians should be known for their love of their fellow man, just like Jesus was.
Every summer here in VA Beach there are hate preachers at the oceanfront just looking for a fight. I can't tell you how close I've come to saying something to them, or actually wanting to attack them, but all that would do in their minds is validate their purpose.
I'm sorry for any of you who have had to suffer from the blatant violation of the second greatest commandment "love your neighbor as yourself".

I think the problem with those fundies is that they learnt the bible, not morals.

I don't know - in my personal experience, I find I tend to know a lot more about the Bible than fundies, and I'm an atheist, for cryin' out loud. Half the time, the problem isn't their interpretation, but honestly, the fact that they're "interpreting" things that aren't even in the Bible. Even when they manage to use an actual Bible story, they usually manage to horribly butcher the meaning.
Take Sodom and Gomorrah - now, any fundie will tell you that the people of the towns were smited for being homosexual. The truth of the matter is no, it wasn't that, it was the fact that the people were all a bunch of serial rapists. Of course, most fundies also forget to mention the part where Lot offers up his daughters to be raped by the townspeople in place of the two strangers who are secretly angels. Or the part where, after escaping the city, Lot's daughters get him drunk and have sex with him so that they can get pregnant.

Maybe all that stuff is just not in KJV of the bible that they all read XD

Wow, those quotes are so contradictory and immoral. I got sick just reading the first few. If these people really studied the Bible to its fullest extent, you think they would properly understand the moral lessons found in It like those in Proverbs.
Proverbs 21:8 (NKJV) : "The way of a guilty man is perverse; but as for the pure, his work is right."
And how did those quotes get such high ratings?!?
Modus Ponens

They're rated on how ridiculous the voter thinks they are.
