This was a long time in coming. I originally wanted to start a mission set
with other level designers a long time ago, since before Apocalyptic Factor
that DH and Sir made a while back. I was unable to do my part at the time,
but I've since paid that back in spades here.
The goal was simple, have people submit around 5 levels to the set, relatively
small in nature and with a whacky level theme that you wouldn't really expect
to see in Descent. What we got was a wide assortment of interesting levels
and challenges. I'm personally surprised at what we all came up with and
I'm proud to have been a part of this set.
Because of the community help, this is THE biggest mission set to date, with
32 whopping levels with an all brand new robot cast + bosses, brand new player
ship with custom cockpit and a kickin new soundtrack. This is definitely one
mission to put on your permenant backup harddrive for future revisitations.
Without further adieu, here is the level line-up!

So without further adieu, ...

Ado! Without further ado, like in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Ado means "fussing over this and that". Adieu is French for "good bye". I see this mistake all the time and it... well, it annoys me a tad.

*Cough* Okay. Now then. What's this? Descent 2? I never owned this game, but I played it once or twice, and I greatly admire it. My physics teacher used to play it in his office back in high school. I thought that was pretty rad. Anyway, if these screens offer any fair indication of how good of a job you did, then I must congratulate you on what look like a bunch of rad levels.

I just finished freaking out over how awesome this is. I was a huge Descent whore back in the day. I can't wait to play these!!!!

EDIT: I can't play your custom mission pack. I get an error message after starting a new game that says "Robot Joint (225) out of range"

most likely you need descent XL? (a source port for windows) and I didn't know you liked descent! descent 2 is the best in the series (granted ive never played the games after the 3rd one). I own the collection pack of descent 1+2+all expansions and various user levels :P

http://www.descent2.de/ (descent XL)

Odd, we tested this project on all descent versions: vanilla, rebirth, d2x, and d2-xl. So it 'should' work on all versions. But if all else fails, try to download d2-xl and get it to run with that. It has a lot more visual enhancements and features to make Descent look prettier. It also has coding that ignores a lot of errors (like that robot joint thingy) that the original Descent program would have a heart attack with.
And yes, I'm a huge Descent fan, probably more so than a ZC fan. I also made a few other mission campaigns if you care to look them up:
The Lost Levels - 25 level set with new weapons, two new ships, flying dynamics and vertigo robots and new bosses.
Bahagad Outbreak - 10 level set with few new robots and two new bosses.
Some other mission sets that are amazing that are out there that I didn't make:
Obsidian
Apocalyptic Factor
Encounter at Farpoint 1 AND 2
Entropy 1 AND 2
Project Mandrill
Project Hydro
Konflict at Karon
Kryllidian Krusade
Most if not all of the above house new robots, bosses, weapons and new player ships. Loads of hours of entertainment here.

I used to play Descent 2 all the time on my old mac. What would I have to download at this point to be able to play this map pack?

You stole the logo for your project from digital blasphemy (http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/fshow.shtml?i=overseer&w=1152&h=864&y=2005&n=The%20Overseer&b=count&z=228725245926273342&m=144962124009298037&zs=the_overseer).

You even cropped out the websites logo. Noice.

I did, I did, however, if you were to beat the game and view the credits, they still got their credit. So all is well.
Belderan, did you get D2-XL up and running? Isn't it an amazing program that updates Descent 2?

Nicholas Steel

Make sure to read the readme file to know where to place the descent 2 files ;)

DarkFlameWolf

well, the self-installing exe should do that for you. And if you utilize a d2 version that does things differently (ie: D2-XL) the install program has a front-end text that describes exactly what you need to do in that case.

Necro post! XD I know, how horrible of me, but I'm serious about Belderan's problem. I would really like to know if he ever got it to work. Its been bugging me honestly.
