Poets Amongst us

Well I don't claim to be a poetic person at all, but occasionally I get bored hop on the computer and type down the first things that come to mind... all of them have no pre-thought put into them and are left exactly how they come down out of my brain, minus some spelling correction seeing how it happens when you type that fast.

Ive got a ton of them, but I figured Id share a couple random ones with y'all, just to give you something to sneer at...


Thoughts for the thoughtless:

Picture you typical plot,
an average man giving all that hes got.
Living not in the moment,
but in what can ever be.
Free my mind soul and most of all body.
From these everyday toxins.
Every mans got em,
raise myself up from what I believe to be bottom.
To high for you,
Is that a problem?
Aint no reason to hate,
Its way to common!
Another minute to late,
the clock tick-tocking.
Consider me crazy only to self I'm talking,
lived my whole existence in a coffin.
Buried in thoughts....
Self erected tomb in which to rot.

Getting a cold realization that we were all born to die
There is no reasoning in living your days depressed and deprived
when there are plenty of people who are in a struggle trying to survive
So chin up ageist all false fears and poor allegations
My life is all that I have time to stop waiting it with hesitations.

Mage's Diminution

I once had words, I once had music
I once had the power to say

And there was magic in these old clothes
and monsters around ever door
And the mysteries of everyday
fled in dreams I see become

I didn't want to be this man
Strange in a beautiful world
I want my words, Where is my magic?

There was music in every room
A dancing of dares in the darkness
Though I was mad
there was possibility in my insanity

The best poem I've ever read was written by Modes Ponens when we were in high school. I hope he will see this and post his poem. It was epic and life altering.

The dreams of tyrants curse the hopes of those that are pure hearted.
So many times have our souls come into this world and parted.
My heart, it bleeds to know that I will never have you in my arms.

Denseness infinite aims to swallow light and end the fire.
Surely the universe will be at peace when all thats left is void..

The restless souls of the unwanted and the long forgotten
Cannot be freed as they are stuck in buried bodies, rotten.
We come from nothing and back to that disexistence we shall go,,

Cursed be the Godless stars whose explosions form our molecules.
We try to understand but end the end we shall remain fools.
So, time and space, collapse, and let our dreams and sick desires end.

Once there was love and I was happy, knowing peace existed,
And then you left, my soul was hideously scarred and twisted.
It ends in oblivion and that is how things are meant but to be...

It's BASIC. Line 10 tells the computer to PRINT the text shown to the screen. Line 20 tells the computer to go back to line 10, thus creating an infinite loop, in which "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy" fills the screen.

Speaking of this poem, I just watched The Shining tonight for the first time. It's a really goddamn creepy movie.

As the line formed to get into PAX this year, people were invited to recite haiku to earn wristbands that would guarantee entry to Friday night's concert. (Ultimately it turned out that they had a ton of leftover bracelets, which were given out for other reasons as well, so there was no problem getting in.) I wrote a haiku that I didn't get a chance to recite because they stopped accepting more entrants.
