I'm certainly not the only person on this board who owns a piece of sharp decorated metal in the shape of a sword. But I may be the first to give you a truly good reason not to buy that replica master sword you see at Trueswords.com or wherever. trueswords.com is notorious for it's poor stainless "replicas".

now I'm not here to trash on replica makers, but I do want you to understand something: Whatever it is Link uses in your quests, is nothing like anything you would get on that site. and especially is nothing like some replica master sword. Those swords are weak, brittle, and could fly right off the handle in some cases (omg sword beams!!! at 20 rupees a shot... >_>)

"That's fine" you may ask yourself. "it's not like anyone makes swords that can actually function as swords anymore anyways." ...but of course, they do. :D

http://www.sword-buyers-guide.com/buy-swords-online.html This was an absolutely wonderful little site I found online about the difference between a +20 dollar blade and a -300 dollar beater. Beater is a terminology used to define swords less concerned with historical accuracy, and more concerned with durability. There really are people who still slice into big wood blocks with these things, and do so several times over. It's sweet as hell to watch, and while I can't say for sure that any PROPERLY constructed Master Swords were ever created (I don't know about that blacksmith kid who made his own), I can give you the Excalibur, which, coincidental to what it tries to emulate, happens to be the best beater sword in existence. Read the review.

...so yeah, I don't know who all would actually be interested in getting a real real sword, but I'll put it out there to keep you guys informed.

It's always worth checking on the quality of your sword before you buy it, lest something like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmRUaxq-QhU) happen.

The King Leonidas sword replica is very unusual in that it's actually supposed to be pretty good, and is made of quality metal. But don't ever, EVER EVER get it from Trueswords.com, or they'll probably send you a cheap knockoff made of stainless steel.

I have one sword, got it from this store downtown that sells food and stuff from China.

And a Spanish dagger my sister got for me while on holiday.

I also made some wooden swords (and a tomahawk) a few years ago (with a little help), they're painted and varnished and everything. I even painted one to look like the Wooden Sword in LOZ (green hilt, orange blade and stripes on the hilt.)

not bad. o.o though they aren't wood, ever consider doing the same for white and magic?

I've gone through best buy swords to get my practice sword. I've been planning to get a basic katana, but I've no idea on which one to get.

doesn't matter, as long as it is durable and sharp. see of Generation 2 makes katanas.

This (http://www.lastlegend.com/) is one of the best sites to get a good, working sword for not a whole lot of money.

I have this (http://www.swordarmory.com/cas_katana/sh1016.htm) one and it's fucking beautiful. Differentially tempered steel, Miyamoto Musashi style tsuba. I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago from my best friend, but have yet to do any tameshigiri.

Anyway, if you're looking for a real sword but don't necessarily want to spend $2000 on it, buy it there.

That site is the real deal, thanks. That walking cane stick is no joke. I love swords. There is no better way to challenge someone mano y mano.
Does anybody know where I could find a good Gunblade? I've heard there are actually ones out there that shoot.

Try searching for a pistol cutlass. Those are the only real "gunblades" I know of. Pirate swords. =] I want one.

Nah, don't have the time or tools to do so anymore.

:P On a related note, a friend of mine who is REALLY into the whole sword scene gave me a VERY late birthday gift.

:D I now have my own Partizan/halberd! It's OBVIOUSLY not made for actual combat, seeing as how the blade part is super flimsy, but it's still freaking neat.

Only problem is, I have to leave it in my friend's basement because I have to place for it at my house, unless I stuff it in the outdoor shed, which I refuse to do. ...:( And I can't actually USE the partizan in the basement, since I need lots of room...
