Since I saw no topics made of this game, I have to start one. There's this awesome game for the Wii that is called Boom Blox. It's not doing that well sales/popularity wise but that's because of crappy advertising, or no advertising at all, which puzzles me because this is Steven Spielberg's very first video game (yes, the master director himself).

If you just look at the box of the game or watch a short preview video, you may think that Boom Blox is just another shitty and kiddy game for the Wii. I thought so too until I read some reviews and bought the game.

Boom Blox is a puzzle game that presents a series of physics-based puzzles, the objective being either to keep structures made of blocks from being knocked down or to knock them over by various means, using the Wiimote to throw, shoot, and grab at the blocks. Boom Blox features the most realistic physics engine ever! It really matters at which angle a projectile is launched and how fast it is thrown as well as the mass of the projectile and the type of blocks it comes into contact with influence the results of an action.

And what's best, this game has a LEVEL CREATOR. That's the thing that gives Boom Blox infinitive replay value. You can build your own puzzle levels, or you can build all kinds of structures and blow them to tiny pices. It's really simple but fun!

Here's IGN's review of the game: http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=937349

Here are some videos that show the realistic physics and the stuff you can do with the level creator:

Is there anyone else who has played this game? Few have played it but but those few who have seem to love it. I just felt I had to make you guys aware of this game, sorry and thanks for listening. :)

This looks incredibly fun! I wish I still had a Wii.

I'm interested in checking it out, but not for $50. That's too much to pay for a game like that to me. If it comes down, say to $30, I'd pick it up.

I had a lot of fun with it for about two days, then it just kind of wore off. The story mode was kind of fun, but my interest in it just kind of petered out :/

Ah, well I got bored to the story mode as well, and if you don't like fooling around in the editor then I guess this game's life is pretty short. But I love the editor and today I managed to waste another 5 hours or so building my own levels and scenarios...

Really, it could've used more Internet integration, in my opinion. A large database of user-generated levels would've added much to the replay value, as opposed to the current system where you can only e-mail levels to your friends. Honestly, that just really bugged me - you allow users to generate their own content, you allow content to be shared, but you don't have any sort of centralized distribution model.

I thought this was about a WiiWare game. :(
