Combo Stacking

I've heard of "combo stacking" and I've seen it used in a number of quests

eg. Grass and bushes regrowing and able to be cut again after being cut once, doors with smooth opening and closing transitions, chests and block popping out of the floor and being used.

So I wanna know, how do you do it?

I know it'll give my quests some added flare!
