No not the dog the "dwarf planet" There is still an ongoing debate about the status of Pluto as a planet. According to some there could be as many as 12 new planets if the definition is loosened. I love this type of stuff.

I think they were right to downgrade Pluto's status. Pluto was originally classified as a planet due to a mistake (an incorrect estimate of Neptune's mass which caused them to believe that there needed to be another massive planet beyond Neptune), and now that we know that there are many Pluto-like bodies in the solar system, it makes sense to classify it as something other than a planet.

I agree. People are just so stubborn to admit they were wrong in this time and age. Fix your own mistakes. Then people won't say your stupid, they'll only think it.

Yup, good ol' scientists - one minute they're kicking Pluto out of the solar system, and the next minute they're doing the 3:00 AM drunk phone call begging Pluto to come back.

I like Pluto. Though it's not a planet, there's something mystic about it, wandering at it's bizarre orbit, often alone, but dancing with our planets.

Yeah, I don't dislike Pluto either. It will always be the 'almost planet' to me, since for the first 24 years of my life it was a planet.

It always amazed me that there could be that big of a chunk of ice just floating out there the size of a planet. Maybe it can stop global warming. LOL

Same here. Pluto will always be a planet to me.

Same here. Pluto was always my favorite planet - especially after I had to do a report on it back in grade school... with pictures (hand drawn).

So wait, does this mean that Unicron isn't considered a planet either?

This is serious buisness guys!

I have always thought of Pluto as a planet. One of my top 5 favs along with Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and of course Earth. :kitty:

While I still like Pluto, I don't disagree with the decision to correctly title it as a drawf planet. It's proof the scientific community is willing to admit a mistake when they find one.

The band I was in one year ago went by the name "Pluto is a Planet". I still get compliments on the shirt ;).

I think, although they should change the definition, they should make an exception for Pluto. Keep Pluto a Planet!
