Z quest not working

z quest nor zelda classic is not working on my computer, when i try to run z quest the screen starts flickering and i get this message saying "zquest-w.exe" has stopped working. i have windows vista so that could be the problem but im not sure. any help on how to get it working would be appreciated, thanks.

What version are you using?

2.10 doesn't work with Vista, but you can attempt to get it to by right-clicking the program, going to properties, and checking some box that says "Run As Administrator". 2.5 betas that you can find at http://www.shardstorm.com/ are guaranteed to work in Vista.

Download 2.10.2 w/ launcher full and start the launcher up, pick your settings, then hit the run ZQ or ZC within ZCLauncher.

2.10.2 works for me on Vista without ZCLauncher. 1.92 works too.

I only said 2.10.2 cause that's just better to play in. ZCLauncher still works in 2.10 on vista, I was just saving him some time and suggesting 2.10.2.

Also, when was it established that it had to be without ZCLauncher? I don't get why it would be...even if it was.

But! 2.10 does work with vista without ZCLauncher, you just have to change two values in ag.cgf to get it to open in the correct window size. Which ZCLauncher pretty much does automatically for you...so yeah...2.10 works in vista.

2.10 on the download page doesn't include the Launcher. I didn't know where to get 2.10.2, so I didn't mention it in my post. I just mentioned 1 known way to make 2.10 work in Vista, as well as suggesting the 2.5 betas, which is what I use. It's not like my post was perfect and listed every known way or anything, just a couple suggestions I know.

I've tried that. It doesn't work. I think it just depends on your computer.

I don't see how it could depend on your computer. It probably has to do with your type of account on Vista; always use an admin account. I know there's two different Vista operating systems: Vista x86 and Vista x64 -- I've gotten Zelda Classic 1.92 and 2.10.2 to work on both Vista OSs without any problem.

well i do have 2.10 and im using an admin account so im gonna try and download 2.10.2 and see if that works

It doesn't work naturally with Vista, but I did list one known way to get it to. Can't we just agree to disagree, I'm not liking this fighting.
