I'm helping a friend set up a website for her new business and am looking for ideas to help advertise/promote it on the internet. Anyone got any good ideas?

Hmm, shame most boards have rules against advertising, because that really is the fastest way to get word of mouth across the net.

Not really, because if they didn't, it'd be seconds before the board was flooded with spam.

Hmmm yeah...

I guess in that case the staff should just use their best judgement.
If it's a well thought out post saying, "Hey, I know you guys at [insert forum here] are interested in this kinda stuff, and I just started a site..." let it stay.

If it's a la Lightning Z, well, yeah, bam, poof, bye bye.

Alas, it's not a perfect world.
