Just to be clear, I happen to be a big fan of this guy's music and guitar playing. I'm not trying to be mean about this.
But seriously, could he look any funnier? I think not. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLnOx4E-G1g&feature=related)

Man, I would kill to be able to play guitar like that.
But the guy looks like a true hardcore rocker.

That guy makes it look so easy... not really that funny though. I can only describe making faces like that while playing guitar as instinct. You can't help it, it just happens.
btw, is it common to anchor your right hand on the guitar with your ring and pinky fingers like he does? I've never done that,

I dont really make faces when I play, but if me and some friends are jamming out, and we come up with some bad-ass riffs, I cannot help it, but smile.
It is a great feeling, and MAB is the fucking man.

To me, the hair is the funniest part. I make faces too. :(

It is very common, but not everyone does it. I am able to play at a fast, advanced level and I don't do that. Different people develop their technique differently. I tend to leave my hand "floating" above the strings, and I just pick like that. I don't anchor it against the body with my fingers. When I'm playing rhythm, I rest my hand on the bridge of the guitar so I can quickly palm mute different notes.
