Commands&Favourites?

I've seen these in large mode, but have absolutely no ideas as to what they do. Could someone fill me in?

favorites and commands are just basically wuick links to options/combos that you use often. shift+click to set a combo in the favorites box, or do the same to set a command in the commands box.
