When I was mapping out my first set of dungeons in ZQuest, I thought I'd look at the dungeons in the original Legend of Zelda to figure out how to best place enemies. I couldn't find a complete list anywhere online, so I ended up typing this up. I thought that someone may find it as useful as I did.


Notes:
Each '>' is a single room.

This looks good for people that may be trying to balance their difficulty.

i'm glad this was the right place to post it. it gave me a good starting perspective. i ended up making a spreadsheet to help me plan everything out. i designed eleven similar to the orig Zelda, and fourteen others to encompass the remaining enemies/items. (the overworld is 3 maps large.) it *really* helps to plan everything out instead of just selecting enemies at random (..which is what i did at first) - especially when it comes to how many hearts the player will have / what items, etc. i don't know how/if it could be coded into the interface, but it would be cool to have some sort of screen (maybe a grid of dropdown menu's) that lets you setup all of your enemies for a map at once. it would probably be easier to grasp the overall playability. ..maybe that's what testing is for.

I also took the general difficulty of the dungeons as a balance, butt added some more difficulty to the first and even more to the second quest. :)
