Are my eyes deceiving me, or what? I swear we had just over 10,000 registered members, but now we have 5,289. How do we lose nearly 5,000 members just like that?

User pruning.

I actually recommended it the other day, and it seems like the higher staff has decided it would be a good idea.

All of the members with zero posts get removed...and possibly more, depending on other circumstances.

It has happened before. It has happened now. It will happen again.

Personally, I am in full support of it.

Edit: After searching, I see zero posters all the way back to 2004.

Maybe any before that were removed?

But what about people that registered to get access to the features at AGN? Or does the Zelda Classic website use a different member database? And why do I keep on asking so many questions?

I purged everyone who registered over a year ago, and either never completed the email confirmation (~1000) or has yet to make a single post (~3000).

That's logical. I was freaking out that we had lost about one-half of our members, but this seems very fair since no posts have been deleted, etc. :p

Yeah, a lot of big forums prune members. For some reason, people like to sign up and just never post. =\
