This article lists 18 ways that we can avoid becoming a ward of the government. Good read by a Libertarian blogger. I still have hope that we will not become more of a nanny state.

I didn't read all of them; I'm lazy.
I would guess they all say the same thing but different activities.

I did notice a few odd things.
I don't live in a hurricane zone, nor a tornado, nor an earthquack(hehe funny typo) area.
I do live in a area where a blizzard can occur.
All people in this country live in some kind of disaster area.
I don't mind FEMA helping some at the expense, i.e. taxes, of others since there could very well be a problem in the taxpayers region as well.

I do agree with many of them, I know that's strange for a democrat but.

I also want to seem how many of these, federal for easyness, were passed with a repub. Congress.
Probably many.
I know during 2000 through 2006 most of these weren't struct as the Republicans would seem to do.
I guess you won't be voting for them.
Maybe Ron Paul, I will probably write him in.
