Quote: Call them Pavlov's fish: Scientists are testing a plan to train fish to catch themselves by swimming into a net when they hear a tone that signals feeding time.

Interesting concept... although the "rate of return" once the fish are out in the wild might not be as high as researchers want. (i.e.: predators, disease, dumb fish, etc).

I know fish can be taught things but I didn't think they had ... long term memory.

There was a Mythbusters where they did something similar with goldfish. The fish seemed to be able to learn the trick to getting to the food without too much trouble.

Now if only scientists could figure out a way to train people to be less damn stupid.

Oh, how I wish that was possible...

I wonder if we'd be able to use this technology to train fish not to get caught in order to cripple the economy of countries we don't like?

Just fishful wishful thinking...

In the year 21XX, we'll rue the day as fish conquer our civilization and exact their revenge.
