View Full Version : A new windows build?

First of all, I apologize for another one of these threads. ;p But I think alot of people are anticipating a new build after getting 758. *raises hand*

I know there are attempts being made to clean up and stabalize some of the stuff like windowed slowdown, large mode, etc. so if that's the case then disregard this thread. :p

You're teasing us so badly with the arrays too =(

I'm all for a new build, but check this (http://www.armageddongames.net/forums/showthread.php?t=101749) out. So I think we'll have 758 for a little while longer.

Yeah, I've been checking Shardstorm like three times every day all week. I want Jmans Item override so I can begin a restructuring of my subscreen. :D
But as always if necessary, take your time.

Urm...

I'm not so sure he was =P

Damn me not being able to afford a Wii =(

I wouldn't be surprised if he were kidding. That game is addictive. Then again, with his cryptic nature, we may never know.

This...

* ZQuest hotkeys changed: Freeform Combos is now F7, and Layers is now F12.
makes me want a new build even more! =(
This addition is the best thing ever!

* 'Doors' has been moved to the Screen menu, and the Scripts submenu has been moved to the Quest menu. Remember this!
That's gonna take some getting used to though ¬_¬

The problem is that SOME of the devs are sitting on their butts not doing anything when they should be programming.

What, there are hotkeys for layers and FFCs now!? For the love of mercy, compile the build!

L probably lost the tournament between the devs and has sulked back to doing ZC work.

How about any build? I run windows, but you can't forget about Linux and Mac users. I'll be running one or the other if I get MY OWN computer. I'll probably get a Mac and boot Linux from it most of the time.

L wasn't kidding. Don't worry though, I should get something out soon enough. Sorry for keeping you waiting.

Let's add some incentive. First dev to compile a build for Windows gets so free reputation points!

First dev to compile a build period gets to eat the programmer pie <.<

What's in the programmer pie? Let's just say it's not legal...

Any chance of a Secret Combos hotkey?

Any chance of a Secret Combos hotkey?

I think you can do that one already. ...Lemme think here, F-flags, X-preview mode; then from there C-combo cycling, R-restore, and S-secrets. Works with ffcs and walkability and flags in preview mode also. Check it out, it's a time saver.

Oh! You've been away for awhile so there's lots more:

in tile page:

"M"ake combos, or after "C"opy, M will Move tiles.
"D"ungeon carving and something else too, I forget.
"O"verlay tiles, ctrl-O; Underlay tiles.
"B" -make selected tiles 8-bit. ctrl B, 4-bit.

in combo page:

"I"nsert combos, this one's friggin sweet! or Ctrl-I; Delete combos.

(I always forget if it's ctrl or shift on these....)

...actually just check out a thread I started in beta discussion, page 2 I believe. There's some extra Links by DN and ST there also. Definately worth a look. ;)

Here it is.

It could be worse... all the developers could be addicted to WoW.

I would say no wonder it's taking ages for a next build. I was thinking a big change or implementation could be taking so long and they're putting alot of effort in that hard work and I would be bummed if were to find out that they are too busy playing WoW and neglecting what they're supposed to do causing all AGN members waiting all their lives!:D

Sorry, I should have been a little clearer. What I meant was a hotkey to bring up the Secret Combos dialog box, which as far as I know still doesn't have one. That said, I didn't know a lot of the hotkeys you posted, and I'm sure I'll be able to make good use of them. :)

*sighs* I think i've written about 3000+ lines of code this last month based on fixes since 758. Let this be a lesson..uh...don't count your eggs before they are hatched, whatever that means. Anyways it's been pretty quiet on the development front lately. How's everbody doing? And, who is the brawl champion?

Ptth, new hotkeys. What about the annoying paint bug??

Also, my two cents: We need a "Current Screen" selection in the Palettes tab in Graphics, so that small palette edits aren't so tedious.

So yeah, a new build is needed.

ZC's built-in Palette editor sucks anyway <.<

You are the one to talk :P. I could make a new build but I want to fix ZCL first before anything else.

Try to be quick but thorough when testing so that I or the devs can promptly fix any major bugs that creep up

Heh, no problemo. I was just going to sleep later anyhow. But who needs sleep anyway, I mean really? It's not that important at all. ;)

I'm not fond of the graphical sliders either, but I did stumble upon a more precise alternative. Home and End increment and decrement the red value in the current color, Up Arrow and Down Arrow do green, and Page Up and Page Down do blue. (This is how I can specifically limit myself to 0s and multiples of 4 minus 1 for colors.) -- Pteryx

Use #'s 1,2,3, and 7,8,9, on the keyboard.

I knew that, but using RGB values directly to make palettes isn't a good idea either. Actually, it's even worse than using ZC's sliders to make them.

The colors always look so artificial and bland. Of course, it's possible to make a good palette with RGB, it just takes so much more effort. HSV > RGB imo. I always just like to use GraphicsGale and GIMP to make palettes simply because those 2 programs are just so much more flexible.

Finally! Now you just need to get out a Linux build. I could be switching over to Ubuntu or Xubuntu soon (as in 2-4 months from now, possibly earlier) because I'll inherit a really old computer that I can mess with however I want.

Tried Sarpadia on the new build and the "guys" and their items weren't appearing in the first few caves. Is this a deal with the quest itself or the build?

Nicholas Steel

it is fixed in a unreleased version :) it was a very recently introduced bug.

Minor bug found while playing Sarpadia again in the most recent build(780)...when using the wand, the beams came out looking like sword beams instead of the usual wand beams.

Wouldn't the developers have an easier time finding these bugs if you post them in the bug forums?
